Q:
Budget Pc Build/ GW2 on high settings
If you’re zergfighting in WvW, it’s currently nigh impossible to build a box that will keep you above 30fps.
My machine is pretty beastly and I still drop into the 20’s and lower depending on what’s going on.
I have: I-5 3570k @4.4, 32gb of RAM (I run GW out of a ramdisk at all times) and a 7970.
Even with this setup, my FPS drops down in bigger fights.
Open world on my own I get between 60 and 130fps (I have a 120hz monitor)
I run with reflections and a few other bits and bobs dropped down from max because they just don’t make a difference in visual quality to me.
You need to be prepared to overclock to as close to 4.5ghz as you can (whatever processor you get), an SSD or a ramdisk like me, and a video card in the ~250-400 dollar range to get near what you’re looking to do.
All told I’d say you’re in the neighborhood of about a grand, maybe a little more as a baseline. You could easily reach 1300-1500 depending on parts.
If ur on a tight budget it will be tough. It would help if u gave us a figure.
But to give u an idea. For GW2 WvW, ur looking at a budget around $700 to $1000 depending on the parts u need. i.e HDD, optical drive, monitor , keyboard ,mouse . Over the core components like the Mothebroard CPU GPU RAM cooler PSUetc.
So what parts do u have that u can use ? Monitor ? case ? PSU ? ..what ?
This is a core components list of what i would recommend.

Personaly i would think of getting the 3770k as GW2 is starting to use up all 4 threads on the 3570k in certain situations so im told, and iv seen evidence of that on my own CPU as it can reach up to 50% overal utilisation in some casses (equal to 6 of my 12 threads used) that would add another $100 on though.

Hi all,
Recently my laptop failed to even run GW2 so im looking to build my own computer for the cheapest price(buying parts of amazon) but also beable to run the game on High settings smoothly. So what would be the best build for me to go, I do tend on playing WvW
Budget and high settings really dont go good together but a price range would help and if you need abokittenely everything or have things you are going to use like monitor, mouse, keyboard.
Solar stop posting that 7870 their sold out everywhere and have been for a while also look at this CPU cooler lower price, new tech. same performance.

Im not going to shop around for people. I’ll give them the advice on the best component to get thats current. If said persons turns around and says they cant find one and ask for another recommendation, i shall ofc respond appropreatly.
Remember im from the UK and its still readily availble over here from the main places i and many other use. I know of only a handlfull of places to look for parts in the US, i would asume there are more places to look that i do not know about.
That cooler, dunno about same perfomance, from what iv seen the D14 will still beat it. The 812 is a step up form the 212evo, but isnt at the top of the air cooler league. Guess it depends on how much u want to spend. For 4.5ghz+ OC’s on a Ivy i think it would be wise to go for top end Air cooling rather than mid.

Thanks for the replies,
As for budget i would really like it to be 600-700$ tops this is excluding mouse, keyboard and monitor
Thinking about going with this guys build , is it good ?
I3 is not a bad little gaming processor for most games. The 7850 is a very respectable card for 1080p gaming. The rest of the parts look like they support the 2 primaries well.
However, that is not a box that will run the game at max settings in WvW at more than 20 frames. You can’t OC the I3 processor, and this game is largely dependent on clock speed in the big events/WvW.
So while you’ll be ok for small skirmishes/solo pve, you’re not going to be zerg fighting with a box like that.
For 600/700$ AMD processor is your only choice or an i5 with a pretty low end video card. U can get a AMD FX 6300 for about the same price than an i3, and it will run better any game. So u either go up too 900$ range to get the i5 3570k or get the FX 6300 at that price range but i3 processors are really bad for gaming i wouldn’t recomend them since dual core processors are on the way out, most moderns games use at least 3/4 cores atm.
