Ok so recently i noticed that somtimes when i log in lions arch (lets take trading post for example) i have 30 fps there and somtimes its over 40+. After hella lot of tests i found out a weird thing. IF i skip the menu with char select etc ( i press enter fast so the flag etc wont even load) i have higher fps of about 10 and if i let it load completly and then enter game i have lower fps …. I tested this around 50 times and its 100% accurate. I thought my hardware might be bad but it passes all test 100% ok and never had a prob with diff game. If i relog in game while fast clicking (no loading flag again) i can change overflow with the same high fps. But if i relog and let the flag load the fps drop and i need to restart the game if i want it to get higher again. Seems like an odd bug. I wonder if the menu loads anything or have memmory leaks or stuff?

I just tested one more thing. When entering char select menu when i enter options i can see it shows 50fps in the menu but if i press escape before the flag and all details load i get 60 fps shown in the menu (thoes 60 stays after that even if i close and reopen options). I think i had this thing since the begining but its hard to tell. Thoes 10 fps is around the ammount im missing in game when waiting for menu to load xD. It seems odd and i can only notice this in lions arch or other intense areas (like wvw 10 fps more ftw) cuz in normal situations like dungeons etc i have alot of fps so i wont rly notice a 10 fps drop. Could anyone test it? It seems like an odd bug or driver conflict but i have no idea what could a menu possibly do to cut my fps by 10

BUmp. My friend just checked it (he have diff system but ati card as well but not 7xxx model). AND YOU KNOW WHAT ??:P he gets around 10 fps more as well if he skips the menu. You should try it!. It seems the menu might leave some stuff in the memmory or so. Not only the game get around 10 fps more in all locations it also seems i get less kittenering while moving camera (fps drops are lower and get back to max much faster). Im pretty sure its not my hardware now so its either a driver conflict or in game bug. You should try it and you just might get more fps.

I just tried it, spamming enter at char selection. Didn’t see a different in FPS in LA. I’m using nvidia gtx660 (310.70 drivers)

I think it might be related to ati drivers ( their drivers suck in general). So far 3 of my friends noticed they have more fps after doing it. I dont have any way to check what is causing this but i can cut it down to driver problem or conflict (no way this is hardware with an easy “fix” like this). Well at least now i know why somtimes i had 30 and other time 40 fps in wvw zergs:P. Would be cool if anyone more ppl with ati cards could check it.

Seems nobody checked this. I ruled out my hardware 100% now. Found 7 ppl with the same thing. We can reproduce this with 100% accuarcy so i doubt someone with 100% diffrent hardware is having a failing one as well. No overheating,psu problems as well ( all programs and games work stable even for 20+ h). One more thing i noticed is that even when i skip the menu and have lets say 40 fps in traiding post (30 if i dont skip) if i go for fractals,dungs or teleport and run alot my fps will still drop but not to the low 30 margin but lets say 36-38. Its not droping overtime as i can stand in tp for 1h and have the same high fps but even if i port once (checked it few times) my fps wil drop but it wont go as low as when i dont skip menu(it dosent drop more after frequent warps or dungs just thoes 3-5 fps and stays in the mid).

Ps. I think i found the cause of this : If i dont skip the menu it seems my game is “darker” as it had some kind of filtering on it. K so i still have that “thing” with skiping menu and having higher fps. Recently i noticed it has to do something with shadows. If i have shadows on off and i skip the menu i get around 40fps (event now) in traiding post LA. The moment i switch shadows on even on low (funy thing is that ultra there gives higher fps then low LOL) my fps dips from 40 to around 30 and stays there even if i turn shadows off. I need to restart the client with menu skiping trick to get thoes 10 fps back again.

Bump. I found 4 more ppl with ati cards (diff models). Thats pretty fun considering that skiping a stupid menu gives me around 10 fps more. Would be cool if this was looked into.
