Not sure if this is the right section for this or not but dunno where else to put it either. I’m wondering if it’s okay to purchase a HoT upgrade for a friend’s account in exchange for some gold or items, or if this is effectively gold selling and forbidden.

Well, it is against the ToS to sell/trade/loan/etc. the game (Legal Documentation link below), but you could contact the CS Team and ask, I suppose, via the ‘Support’ link above/below.

Why don’t you let them log into the game on your PC, then (under their supervision) use their account directly to buy the game with your credit card (or whatever payment method you use), then log into your account and let them buy you Gems with their card in return?

That way, you would avoid the risk of transferring gold.

well they don’t have the real money for it, but have plenty of in game gold that they mostly can’t use as a f2p anyway. That’s why they were asking me to buy it for them to begin with.

Support said in perfectly clear terms it isn’t allowed, just for anyone else who may wonder about this in the future.
