Last night, I purchased a piece of light armor from the karma vendor in Grenth’s temple, for my thief, instead a medium one.

I know it’s impossible to get a refund, but I want to make a complaint about the fact that I’ve spent 42K karma in the most useless way:

- the piece is soulbound, so I cannot transfer it to another character
- the piece cannot be salvaged

So, my question is: If 2/3 of the pieces of armor that karma vendors are selling are completely useless for our characters… why are they shown?

Please, show for each character only the adequate armor set or, at least, make the other sets account bound. Or let us salvage them. Or something. I can only destroy my acquisition, now, and it’s frustrating.

Getting a serious case of deja vu on this post… Is this the exact wording of that other recent post complaining about this?

What ANet could do to fix this was for the specific vendor having the ability to trade one armor piece for the equivalent in a different grade. That, and/or make vendors only show the relevant armor grade to the customer.

This isn’t an issue unique to vendors in GW2 (that is, the UI allowing you to purchase armor your class/profession cannot use). However other games add a confirmation dialogue or allow you to sell it back in a short window to account for slip-ups.

While I am all for being careful with what you do at vendors, I think ideally since the UI already can note when a weapon or armor piece is not usable by your character it should also prohibit purchase of the appropriate items.

i had the same problem with my mesmer, bought 2 heavy armor pieces.
later i found out that you can transmute them with another item, that will make them salvageable, just transfer all the stats and runes with the trasmutation stone, and choose the appearance of the non temple armor piece.

At least in the case of it being soulbound, as then it is character locked. If it is instead accountbound it should still allow a sale as it could be the player is buying for an alt.

That is one hell of a way to waste a fine transmutation stone tho.

perhaps, but you don’t exactly have much of a choice other than this, what else are you gonna do with that armor??, destroy it?

This could also apply to the Black Lion Trader, why they don’t have the ability to sort gear by type of (light, medium, heavy) is a mystery.

In WoW (I know you all hate WoW) you have 2hrs to return a soulbound item to a vendor for a full refund (things not bought with gold). It works quite well.

Or Anet could take a little bit of time to actually organise the list of armors into catagories?
Seems lazy that they are not already.

or they could make it so you could sell it back… it’s not like it matters to the ‘economy’ at all….
