CPU Overheat issue...
It isnt GW2’s fault.
All hardware is designed ot run max and not overheat.
The only time this fails is if there is a problem with the cooling solution ..be it the Case or the cooler ..or the thermal paste. Or a faulty chip
Its an ivybridge, so heat is its achilies heal compared to sandybridge.
i would check your voltages ..make sure they aint high ..make sure your not OC’d to high. Check make sure you have applied the right amount of thermal past and have spread it evenly over the cpu ..(not just a blob in the middle)
Then make sure you have a fan speed curve setup ether via the bios ..or more likely via some software than runs through the OS. I beleve you should have Asus AI suit II ..use that.
After you’ve checked all that ..run Prime 95 with RAM set to 2gb below your actual amount (so 6gb for you) and run it for an hour to check temps.
I highly doubt your CPU is maxing out at 100% from GW2 since GW2 doesnt use all 4 cores 8 threads. So if its overheating with GW 2 ..i dread to think what would happen when it really gets taxed. (At this point i highly sugest you keep a close eye on temps when you start up Prime95 ..since that will run it at 100% load all 8 threads.)

What do you call a high end cooler and what PC case do you have? Also did you build this or somebody else, di you apply new grease after removing the old before installing the new cooler?
