Q:
Can't Get Launcher to work on MAC
Launch the Activity Monitor. Do you see a GuildWar2 thread running? If so, force quit from inside the activity monitor.
Similar. Was in game in HoM ready to enter arena when it dc’d. Got this message:
’Network error.
Please check your internet connection and try again.
(Code=1083:5:7:1595:101)
Internet is fine. Just A-net.
I can sign in get to char screen but then dc’s as my toon is in HoM.
Back in now…will monitor and report back if same issue occurs
Nothing in Activity Monitor. Did not receive network error.
I’d hate to say this because it rarely seems to help, but… have you tried shutting down? If something else is running that is causing problems this would help.
If a shutdown and restart doesn’t work go to ~/Library/Application Support/Guild Wars 2/ and rename it to Guild Wars 2 OLD. Then try relaunching. Any luck? If still none then I’d lean towards a problem with the Guild Wars 2 application or something else on the computer.
@blackwood
Yes, tried restarting the computer. Renaming the GW2 folder; will that reinstall the program? Do you know of a way to remove and reinstall the launcher itself?
I have been playing HoT since yesterday. Yes, I get the occasional kick, but no biggie. I got kicked today, and the whole game broke. I click the GW2 Icon, and the game starts on the menu bar but nothing happens. I have to force quit to get it closed. I have updated the installer and nothing. .
I have exactly the same issue.Yes, I have tried shutting down etc. I also tried reinstalling the game. It doesnt seem to have changed anything.
@act
My husband is a PC guy, not Apple. We are thinking about the possibility of doing a reinstall to a different folder. Sometimes an uninstall does not wipe out everything, so some files are left behind.
Got exactly the same problem.
Launcher starts and nothing happens, tried to repair and nothing, no activity in the network either.
I did delete the game and when i started again (20gb of downloading) i was able to play for 20 mins, then crashed and back to not starting again.
I can play from a bootcamp partition, so it’s not my connection.
If every time the game crashes i have to download 22gb of game i’m sure you understand this is the last time i play.
Guys please fix whatever got broken on the mac launcher.
Many people is having this issue already.
@lokko
Yeah, it has been going out every couple of hours, but this is the first time it wouldn’t let me back in. I have a ticket in, but we will see how long that takes.
So do the devs ever come in and help with these questions?
No. Not even reply from support.
Refund and state this game non playable for Mac.
Here we go. I’m the problem child…
I’m running a Mac. We all know the Mac Client is a bit…dodgy. I haven’t played in a while, and thought, hey, this might be fun. The expansion’s coming, so I should be able to play the older part of the game unimpeded.
Tried to download the Mac Client. Success!
Run install package. Success!
Try to boot up GW2…Failure!
I click on the app, and it simply says, “Guild Wars 2 is no longer running.” Thinking this is an error in the download process, I attempt to delete the .dat file, only to be greeted with “This file cannot be moved to the trash because it is in use.”
I’ve checked my Force Quit. GW2 isn’t running at all. I’ve tried re-installing the package, to no effect. Anyone have thoughts?

Similar issue, if I try to run it from the command line I get a few nasty grams on the terminal:

Rebooting the computer will make sure the .dat file isnt being used. We had to click on it a couple of times before it would register. We ended up just trashing the whole thing, and reinstalling. Now we can play it (at least, till the next time it crashes).
Yeh I have the same problem since the HoT patch(es). Its an absolutely buggy crashy mess at the moment. The only way I can get the launcher to work again is to go to Library > Application Support and delete the Guild Wars 2 folder. But that only seems to work sometimes, you may have to delete the folder and then restart the computer to flush it properly.
None of this really helps for long considering I crash everytime I’m in Lions Arch without fail.
