I just bought Heart of Thorns, I entered the code and confirmed it, but when I start up Guild Wars 2, I can’t access any of the content. I tried making a new character because I wanted to use the Revenant, but it’s grayed out and says I need to upgrade to Heart of Thorns. Which I did.

I loaded up one of my other characters, and I’m not getting the prompt telling me to buy the expansion anymore, but all the HoT windows are gray.

Am I missing a step, or does it take time for it to be fully confirmed?

Getting the same issue, except on mine it says “Newly acquired accounts require validation. This feature will unlock in 4 days.” Kinda odd that I have to wait 4 days to play a game that I bought today? Even EA doesnt do that.
Are you getting the same message when you try to do something?

Login to https://account.arena.net/content and verify that you added HoT to your account. If your game was running in the background when you upgraded, you need to restart it. Some features will be locked for a time after upgrading, but you should be able to access HoT’s content.

Getting the same issue, except on mine it says “Newly acquired accounts require validation. This feature will unlock in 4 days.” Kinda odd that I have to wait 4 days to play a game that I bought today?

Free accounts have to go through a waiting period to be fully unlocked. You should be able to access the content, but the free restrictions, such as the trading post, will still be there for a time. It’s to prevent fraud, as in using a stolen card to upgrade, then dump it all and run, destroying the economy.

It does say I own it. I did not have a free account. I bought the main game years ago. I logged in and out about 5 times, and it didn’t change. I installed the game again, and nothing changed. I turned off my computer and turn it back on again, and nothing changed. It’s still gray.

I am not getting any kind of message. I bought the main game years ago, and have finished it.

Something else I’ve noticed is that the launcher keeps asking to me validate my account. I did. Yesterday. I even checked my account on the site, it says it’s validated. It seems like the launcher is not detecting the website, or something. I don’t know.

I was thinking of doing that, but I held off on it until now. I just filed one, so I’m hoping that will fix it.

I just figured it out. I used the wrong email. Now I somehow have two accounts.
Both named Zarvanis, but with a different number after the name.
I posted this using my real account as proof (look at the number next to my name on the left). The one I posted the topic as was the new one. Which is why I was so confused.

I must have signed up on the website using my 2nd email, and then forgot.

Then, you need to, if you haven’t already, update your ticket to the CS Team and ask them to terminate the HoT account, and issue you a new Serial Key to apply to your existing account. It’s not unusual.
