Can't authenticate my e-mail
I really would like to know the answer to this as well. Same thing happened to me, I received no prompt when I logged into my account to set this up.
Glad to know I’m not the only one. Tried contacting them on Twitter but no response yet.
I think you guys can try to change your e-mails and see if you get the instructions there and then return to the main later on once verified. This advise might screw you guys more than it might help so… Sounds sensible though right?

Yeah, I really would rather not do that as I’m using my most secure e-mail currently and would rather not switch.
Really hope I can get an answer today. More and more people are being hacked, and not having this set up seems like a huge risk.
So I just received a follow up on the e-mail I sent to support.
Guild Wars Support RobotHello,
Thanks for contacting Guild Wars 2! After a quick review of your ticket we feel that the information below could resolve your issue. If none of this helps, please reply to this email with any additional information you can provide.
If you were previously experiencing an issue with the Guild Wars E-mail Authentication System or resetting your password, please follow the directions below.
1. Go to https://account.guildwars2.com/recovery
2. In the “Email / Account Name” field, enter the email address used for your Guild Wars 2 account.
3. In the “Serial Code” field, enter the serial code you registered to the account.
4. In the “Character Name” field, enter the name of an existing character on your account.
5. Click “Verify.”
Something tells me they really didn’t review what I sent them as I made sure to emphasize the part of me not even be able to get this set up and that it was NOT an email regarding DEactivating the authentication system. Of course its understandable Anet is using automated responses/skimming through emails and picking out keywords due to the large amounts of requests they are getting. Just hope they get on this soon.
Of course I tried to reply back but when I try to create a support account it says that my email is already in use. So I tried logging in using my GW2 login, but nope. Says its not a valid login and the password is wrong.
I’m pretty much a sitting duck at this point just waiting to get hacked.

You’re not permanently changing it, just temporarily so you can receive the verification instructions then change the e-mails back. You can even choose not to acknowledge your IP as the permanent/safe one til you switch back to your secure e-mail so you’re really sure if you’ll receive the e-mails later on at the main address. As I said that this can mess your account more than it’ll fix so it’s up to you if you really want to play as soon as possible or wait.

I have already verified my e-mail. Does this mean that my account is already using email authentication? I don’t think that is the case since they have said this in their article on keeping safe “Set up Guild Wars Account E-mail Authentication when it becomes available.”.
I haven’t set anything up yet, nor have I authorized my own computer yet. Guess I’ll have to wait this one out.

Once it’s verified you’ll receive an e-mail asking you if the IP that wants to connect to the account is indeed the one that is your’s every time you try to log on – if it says that the IP is from some place in China then you obviously should not authorize the connection.
Bump.
Still no solution in sight and not a word from Anet besides automated messages telling me how to deactivate email authentication.
