Hey guys.

I used to get this problem a lot, it especially happens to people outside of North America trying to connect to their patch servers. Their patch servers are really notoriously antagonistic towards non-NA connections. It used to be really bad but has been better recently.

Anyway the work around I heard about from before trying to solve the problem is to use a VPN for patching. So I downloaded a free one (today was tunnelbear) turned it on and patched fine, then turned it off.

It should work for you too.

Thanks for highlighting the work around. However we still need to report issues like this so that they can be addressed. It doesn’t help either us or the developers if we have to constantly resort to 3rd party workarounds.

Yeah i know bruh. As a player, can’t patch or play the game is frustrating. While they try fixing the problem, i’m help other players to get connected to game. So far there are too much bugs in game. I am also angry at some of the systems they had like pvp match-ups. Solo q vs Pre made teams.

Sucks to hear that people are still having this issue. My ticket eventually got responded to, after I used the VPN method.

Hope anet works on these issues, sucks to have to use third party methods to fix problems.

+1 for the Tunnelbear VPN fix, Sydney player and after downloading it instantly worked perfectly, strange it only worked with Tunnelbear, had trouble with another VPN.

I’m in Australia and am having the same login problems that a lot of others in here seem to be.

I’m another Aussie that had the same issue. The VPN method was a valid work around for me and took less than 2 mb instead of the 32 mb it was attempting to download without the VPN.

Pretty sure I’m having the same problem as everyone else in this thread, my ticket advised me to check the forums after giving me some solutions, and so here I am now. At first I thought anti-virus was interfering or my internet connection was unstable but I’m not really sure now.

I’m also based in Australia if that information is relevant/important.

and my log file.. Ive tried the method explained exactly, but it keeps giving errors. 3 days now.. cant play.. 3 days behind on my Ascended gear, farming, dungeons, HoT progression… and what will I get ingame for this inconvenience once I can play? Nothing….

So the video will have to do. I have no idea how VPN works.. Im not a IT person. I dont want to struggle fixing a game.. i want to click and play and log off when Im done. Thats it.. The Experts should be the game developers.

Another aussie here, in Brisbane not the wildlands, kinda itching to get back into the game. Is this an after affect of the Blood Prince?? Did the Mad King send him Down Under to wreak havok with our connections? Either way the weekend is gone and got a bit of work done, may have time to play during the week now, when it is fixed . I’m still not working, going on 4 days and feeling that we aren’t getting any real help, want to play my game not muck around changing stuff that has never stopped me playing my game. Nothing new installed in over a year as I only play gw2. HOT comes out and Losing connection, crashing and losing stuff even though my wifi is running awesome. I buy gems and enjoy my game but I feel like this won’t be resolved, so many with same issue and going on 4 days now

Yes it was still stuck, for me at 34MB.
Adding the one time argument -assetsrv drwkwiejruot6.cloudfront.net fixed it, with only a 3MB or so download required.
Subsequent start up of the client worked fine, no extra text required.

After adding the argument -assetsrv drwkwiejruot6.cloudfront.net to the game’s shortcut the launcher managed to download the remaining one file. Now I did have to restart the launcher several times for the workaround to work, but it did prevail in the end.

Wow thanks for replying to my ticket to tell me to do this, Once more I was forced to come on a forum and find the answer rather then having someone send out a email letting me know. I could have been playing for the last 6 hours.
SAD I don’t think I will be putting more money into this game for the next year or so.

But 5 days for Anet to get onto this issue and inform your customers, not good. .

By providing this inferior customer service, you may have lost customers that were coming back to the game and some playing the game ..

Downloading updates on my secondary computer (haven’t used if for about 2 months) tonight and it is repeatedly getting stuck on about 40mb of 3 files remaining. The download speed spikes to 20-30mb/s and then quickly drops to 0 once the download gets to around 40mb. I’ve encountered similar issues previously that were fixed by changing the client’s language, but after downloading a large portion of the game in german, the same thing happened. Are there any known fixes for this?

Also tried the fix here: https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/Can-t-finish-last-file-of-Nov-5th-patch/page/2#post5740636 which changed nothing.

Using the Mac client if this is a mac-only issue.

Mac OS users, I found a way to use the -assetsrv fix for the Mac client of gw2:

$ /applications/guild\ wars\ 2.app/contents/MacOS/cider —use-dos-cwd C:Gw2 -- C:\\GW2\\GW2.exe -assetsrv drwkwiejruot6.cloudfront.net

It finished the last three file downloads and now it seems that I can play.

Hello, Everyone I’m Nespriot and I’m experiencing some troubles with the launcher.
First let me tell you that I haven’t played in a few months and two months ago I was forced to restore my laptop’s data to factory default because of an Issue.
Now I left my laptop all night downloading the game and when I wake up I see on the screen that there’s two remaining files that aren’t downloading and the download speed is at 0 kb/s.
I’ve tried almost changing the “assetsrvr” I wrote on the properties of the “.exe” and also tried repairing it but nothing happens its still stuck on 0% and two files remaining.
could you guys give me a hand, please?
