It never works! I tried everything even removing all Ctrl key use.

The last post has more info about the situation.

I want to use music notes and hearts like everyone else and post people names into party to join parties via GW2LFG.com!

If anyone can figure out what is wrong or… a dev can reply here I’ll appreciate it!

Some characters won’t get posted via Crt+c/ctr+v.

Those People don’t copy paste them but they use special codes for them.

for exmaple holing down alt with hitting on numeric keypad 0228 give you an " ä ".

You need to search google for special windows 7/8 charaters codes

Yet I can’t copy/paste anything not even those characters.

And yet my guild leader can post music notes.

I’m bumping this as I Still can’t paste anything not even text. Gw2lfg.com is useless to me as I can’t paste into party search/manager in game.

I tried even the keystroke both ways copying and pasting and nothing.

I tried highlighting the text, then right click->copy and then ctrl+v in game. Nothing.

Its frustrating and making me not want to play GW 2 anymore because now I’m having people being kitten and jerks to me over it and calling me stupid, and an idiot, etc.

I’m trying to reinstall GW 2 now.

I just want to know why its not even working from the get go.

Win 7 64 bit
AMD E450 1.68 ghz dual core processor
ATI Radeon HD 6320
4 gb DDR3 RAM
500 GB HD

Other info:

I don’t need it as administrator as I have UAC off completely and I am the admin. So everything is ran as admin automatically.

Doing a google search I find out that after October 16th patch, this should not be a problem and I should be able to copy and paste whatever i need into the game’s text boxes. Yet its for mac only…

I am curious, are you trying to copy from GW2 client?

I have never been able to copy text from the client, but I copy and paste from a text file into game frequently. Although I can copy from in game input line (things I myself have typed/entered) and then paste.

That is, I cannot copy something said to map channel and then paste it to guild channel…but I can tab out, copy something from text file/web and tab back to game and release it via control+v into guild chat.

Can you paste in this post a verbatim example of what you cannot put into game client?

I can’t do what you said here, copy from external source (text/word document/web page) and into the game.

Like for example, player names from Gw2lfg.com to join parties before they fill up.

Or get a special character off of the character map in Win 7 and paste it for nice symbols for chat like notes for singing in Role Play.

It never worked like, ever!

I copy the usual way: highlight text and cut/copy (right click menu or ctrl+ x or c) and then ctrl+v in game. Zip! Ziltch! Nada! Nothing! Sometimes I get a small v typed.

? I tried, I cannot do it either ? into the game client, but with the exception of special or odd characters I have not experienced any trouble pasting into the game client…

Since you can not paste anything in at all, what thoughts I had are no longer valid, but I can say the notes wouldn’t show, or hearts…may be a way as someone else mentioned with special key codes, but can’t cut and paste those two (LOTS of odd ones I could, but not those)

Having problems with this to this day. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. Never know which patch will break it or fix it. Wish we could get a permanent fix.

Somewhat unrelated, the search function of these forums is terrible. Couldn’t find what I was looking for by typing keywords into it, but I could when I typed the very same words into Google, which is how I found this old topic.
