Can this ASUS laptop run GW2(mostly WvW)?
No, not really.
are you on a budget?
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD
Yes actually. I don’t expect high end graphics but I just need it to be playable.
I have a Lenovo Intel I3 and it is horrible and just to say impossible to play there even in PvE.
Currently, I’m playing in a Fujitsu Laptop Intel Core I5 – 3210M – 2.5gz, 8gb ram and a Nvidia geforce GT620m. I can play WvW here at somewhat low setting. I have to replace it soon though.
I posted the Asus spec hoping some difference might be gained from the spec especially with the difference of gt620m and gt720m. I’m also hoping I can gain some feedback from other people’s experience with dealing with mobile graphics and processors.
On the other matter, What specs can you recommend for a budget friendly configuration?
Thanks.

I would say yes.
I am currently using this: http://www.cnet.com/products/asus-g50vt-x5/specs/
Intel Core 2 Duo P8700 / 2.53 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GS – 512 MB GDDR3 SDRAM
4 GB RAM
and don’t have any problems. Granted its on low graphics, but does quite well
According to http://www.game-debate.com/gpu/index.php?gid=1249&gid2=205&compare=geforce-gt-720m-vs-geforce-9800m-gs the gt720m performs much better then the 9800m
It’s the chain I beat you with until you
recognize my command!”

How’s WvW experience with your laptop?
Other issue I have in GT720M vs GT630m is that gt720m is an entry level card while the gt630m is a middle entry card.

Most $1000 desktops can’t run WvW with a decent framerate, and an similarly priced laptop always have lower performance. Why do people think laptops are viable PC game platforms? They aren’t unless you are willing to drop some serious bucks on it but in those situations you are just buying an easily carried desktop that’s not as powerful and have horrible battery life.
TL;DR – Laptops are poor gaming PCs.
RIP City of Heroes
have you considered building an Mitx gaming system?
Its not too hard but the main draw back is a lack of screen.
Don’t upgrade, its essentially the same gpu.
If you want to improve the performance and keep it budget, the only way is to move to a desktop. Haswell i3, motherboard b85, gtx 750ti/r9 260x, 4gb ram, 1tb hdd and a 1080p monitor should be around 500-600 bucks.
I would forget about laptops because the decents start at 700. Lower ones have Intel igou and gt 820m which are pretty much the same as those 620m 720m.

I see. I was actually taking laptops into consideration because of portability but I guess a desktop would be the only way.
Can you guys give an opinion about this rig?
Intel Core i5 4460 3.20GHz

I would highly recommend on getting a desktop too, Laptops will never be good for serious gaming even if you buy one of the most expensive high end $2000 gaming laptops a half decent desktop will be stronger and way cheaper to make.
That rig you posted should handle gw2 ok at maybe medium/high settings.
But if you can spend a little extra try and get these:
-Intel i5 4690 (3.5ghz-3.9ghz, $225)
-AMD R9 280x (very good value:performance, $240)
-Crucial 2×4gb 1600 RAM ($45)
-Samsung 250gb 850 evo SSD ($104)
-Corsair 600m PSU ($65)
-Gigabyte LGA 1150 Intel H81 1600 Motherboard ($50)
-Nice Micro ATX Case (about $50)
-Nice Keyboard+Mouse (about $50)
-24in 1080p Monitor ($120)For everything it will cost about $950 and with these specs you should be able to play gw2 on ultra settings at 1080p very smoothly even in wvw and any other current game you throw at it.
If you can’t afford it at once you can do what I did and buy a new piece every week (one of the good thing about building a desktop on a budget)
Maybe later get a cheap netbook or tablet for portable internet browsing etc.
OP: If you would buy a new piece every week, then I would recommend you to first save up to the core parts which is DDR3 RAM, Mainboard and CPU as those three parts are tightly connected with each other and can be very expensive when next generation will be replacing stocks. DDR3 with DDR4, CPU will go from LGA 1150 to Skylake with LGA 1151 (it the number of PINS connecting CPU with MB). In this industry older hardware, doesn’t always means cheaper, so be careful to have those parts before anything else.
You should have minimum a total of 8 GB DDR3 RAM as that is more or less standard today for gaming (and desktop applications). I have 4 GB DDR2 on my laptop and it runs extremely slow due to both being on a 5400 RPM HD and with limited memory space for OS and other application that runs in back ground (remember that even with only a game running, you will probably want to have access to a browser and being protected by anti virus in the background).
For video card from AMDs serie check that you will looking for the right version as they have both 280 and 280*x*, the same goes for 290 with 290*x* where x normally means a bit better version. (Search for benchmarks and compare each before buying.) The same goes for Nvidias options where you will find both a 960 version and 960 ti version. Make sure what the difference are before buying. I have a GTX 970 myself and runs this game rather well, but as other have said. Even a high end system have trouble in places where there are many people (and all those particle effects) like world bosses and WvW zerg vs zerg.
There people claiming that some series of Corsairs PSU aren’t of that good quality (at least those cheaper ones), so I would suggest you to do some research for other brands that might fit your budget and still offer reasonable quality. There are enough with people that have had their mainboards getting burned because of bad quality of PSU.

The gpu wont allow you to play it maxed, but the cpu will be able to handle wvw stuff at medium quite easily.
