Can this chromebook run GW2?
It’s a chromebook so it runs ChromeOS. Guild Wars 2 does not run on ChromeOS
First of all it is not supported. Only gw2 on windows is fully supported and gw2 on a mac is best effort supported.
I have no clue if anyone has tried it (cause if it runs it will be very extreme poor low quality), but theoretically, chrome can use wine to run windows applications. Chrome is based on a linux kernel and people have been able to get wine running in developper mode on a chromebook. But even then, the specs are below the minimum required specs. If running those specs on a windows machine it is doubtfull wether it runs GW2 properly. Besides that wine is an emulator and that means a loss of hardware capacity as well.
So all in all I give it a 5% change to run GW2 to some extend. If you own a chromebook, feel free to try it on your own, but never buy it with the purpose of playing GW2
Arise, opressed of Tyria!

chrome os does not use the standard gnu/linux stack, he will have to install linux.
Even if he wants to run wine. I would not recommend that laptop.
wine + gallium nine is quite nice. You will get much better fps than that forsaken mac port.
It will not, it has 16gb of flash memory and Chrome OS. That means that 1) no where nearly enough disk space to even hold GW2 and 2) COS is not supported at all.
Chromebooks are made for very light use, never gaming in this sense. Also 2gb of RAM and the CPU on that would mean you’d get maybe 2-3 FPS IF you could somehow finagle it to work.
The simple answer is no, you need a windows based system to get any kind of performance out of any low end system. The minimum system I ever got GuildWars2 to run on was a Atom Baytrail quod core with Intel hd4400 graphics in windows7 with all in game graphic setting to lowest got about 20fps in open PVE as soon as I got around any group of players the fps dropped like a stone to unplayable levels. I never have tried to play the game much on that netbook. If you are looking into some type of low end net book or laptop that will let you play the game at any playable level you going to need to look at at least an i3 or better with at least 4gig of ram you could get by with the at least the Intel HD 4400 graphics but you are going to want something with a Invidia or AMD. The game will not be pretty but with the in game settings set to low the game will be playable if you stay out of WvW. If you are planning to play in WvW you are going to need quite a bit better system. I play from time to time on my Acer laptop it only has a dual core I5 and Intel HD graphics but with a little tweaking I was able to get as much as 40 fps with medium to low in game setting not great, but playable I only paid $399 for the laptop at Microcenter I didn’t buy this laptop with the intent of playing games it was ment for a portable audio recording studio but I just thought I give GuildWars a try.
put the correct term in but not everyone has kittens
