Q:
Cannot Download/Play GW2
This sounds like
a) your hardware just failed.
or
b) you have a software (windows) issue that is far too complex to discuss here.
please try a different game and see if it works.

I just tried running Starcraft 2 and League of Legends, both open and run fine. The issue only lies with Guild Wars 2.
Hello there,
Would you mind providing me with some more information about your computer?
1. What operating system are you using?
2. What graphics card(s) do you have?
3. What processor do you have?
If you need help finding any of those, let me know.
I’m thinking it might be a compatibility issue with Guild Wars 2 and your computer, but I need more information.
Good luck.
1. Windows 7 (64-bit)
2. AMD Radeon HD 6700 Series
3. AMD FX-4100 Quad Core Processor
I’m directly wired into my router and don’t use wifi on this computer.
I was running Guild Wars 2 just fine earlier today, then my computer randomly decided to freeze up, then after that, GW2 stopped working, and now my league of legends doesn’t even open after the launcher.
I’m not sure what other information I can give you, but that is what I have. Thanks for helping.
If your League of Legends doesn’t start now, then it might be a corrupt registry issue.
I’m sorry that I can’t give you a 100% guarantee that it’s a registry issue.
Could you also tell me what anti-virus/security software you have running on your system?
I just got Norton Security Suite from my internet provider, (Comcast).
I’ve run scans on my computer checking for viruses and haven’t found any.
But, earlier today I ran a CCleaner scan for registry issues and fixed them all, would that help with what you are saying causing the issue?
I’m just confused on how I can play a game, then an hour later it just stops working. :/
Millamax, I had a problem like this before on a newly bought laptop a month ago.
You might have a problem with the harddrive and it could cause a 0ex000006 error to come up. If a error similar to that digit codex appers after waiting for a period of time for it to work, you desperatly need to get your harddrive looked at. If not, no worries.
I had that error come up when playing Guild Wars 2 beta, but I never expected it just to be GW2 that was doing it. I tried to open DC Universe online and the same thing happened. With in a hour the laptop went kapoot and in the garbage it went. Not even Geek Squad could fix it.
Millamax, if I were you, I would take a hard look your temperatures for computer. Perhaps a fan inside your computer failed and is causing heat issues.
Take a look at System Information for Windows software. http://www.gtopala.com/
It should a sensor page which you can view temperatures. Usually hard crashes are due to:
bad drivers
high temperature
bad power supply
If none of these work, I’d recommend getting a friend to install fresh windows 7 on your system without the manufacturer included “extras”. you’ll want to have an oem disc to install from your computer manufacturer so it activates properly.
Well I got this computer back in June, so its fairly new. Only main problem I had was I had to re-format it about 1 month ago because it had the problem of crashing constantly even when I wasn’t running a certain program.
This time however, the problem mainly seems to be with Guild Wars 2. I’m no expert with computers, but that’s my 2 cents about it.
again, use the SIW software to check:
your temperatures
voltages from power supply
if there was driver corruption issue, you would likely crash instantly into blue screen. This sounds like an issue which is triggered by either heat stress(deficient cooling) or current(psu) stress.
From what I’ve gathered from the SIW:
Temperature:
Hard drive- 42° C
Processor- 33° C
Graphics card- 40° C
Motherboard- 40° C – 50° C
Voltage:
Graphics card- 1.20V
Motherboard- 1.31V
I’m not sure if this is standard or if I even displayed that correctly, but this is what SIW is showing me.
