Cannot login because of "firewall"????
dont worry, same problem, sometimes I make it to the login screen but still cant make it to the game and have to restart.
Well, by dont worry I mean you are not the only one having the problem, not that I have a fix for it.
Same problem here… never had any issues before. Think ANet servers cant handle the stress :/
30 mins now unable to login, never had this before
I have been trying for about 30 minutes too. I’ve tried everything the OP has tried. :-(
yep same here !! i wana play oh well the beach is looking good 30oC may aswell go wait for everyone to goto bed then ill play… i get to where i must press play.. then it says server or firewall etc…
It would be ironic if the message was correct and it was a misconfigured firewall… On their end. ;P
Same here Cant log in for NO REASON now that I have time to play with friends cant log in, I am sure they fix it when the WEEKEND is over and I cant play
I am getting
Error Code : 42:1020:9001:4093 Build: 16089
Yeah, I can’t log in for this error, Don’t think it is anything to do with my firewall, has it was working perfectly fine yesterday and day before.
Same as everyone above, and similarly this is the first time the error has been encountered. The program clearly is marked as having access to go though Firewall.
(Using Windows 8, so it is not a Windows 7 issue alone)
Scratch that I’m in now.
Edit. Nope giving me error again, lol. Well least I’m on Character screen now, haha.

You got my hopes up, Hans…. wah.
I got my hopes up too, lol. They’re probably doing some maintenance or something.

I have the same problem too :P
Same here, I thought we were meant to be past this stage, this is an absolute joke, I can’t even log in.
Here’s a suggestion Anet, if your servers cannot handle the volume of people, don’t be so money grubbing to suck people in with free-trials in a bid to have them buy your game when current players can’t even play.

Not me I just loged out after reading this and was able to log right back in.
Ok, I’m in now.
Ok, I’m in now.
Still broken for me. :-( I’m jelly.
Keep trying, it seems to be ok here now, I think it might just be the servers can’t keep up or something
Same. error….
Saetao
Aye, same here. Been trying for the last 45 mins.
Manage to get past the log in screen, and into character selection. Pressed play and the same firewall error message came up, after that got DC again. It’s been 2 half hours for me.
Thank you for your reply!
Edit 19:02EST : The game appear to be now back and running for me.

Is there actually a way to solve this or should I just play something else?
Play something else, that’s what I’m doing.
Possible fix for the issue at hand.
I had the same said issue. I kept trying to login with the launcher open and it kept giving me the same error.
Then i closed the launcher. Re opened the launcher and it let me into character select. And into the game.
This worked for me, but that may be just me.
Though it is possible itl work for you guys to.
does admin have gw2 ac? and have like supper weapons? cos they have unlimited funds?
Guys, please try this and let me know:
1.) Go into your add + remove programs list, check for any anti-virus software. If you see Norton, McAfee, Symantec, AVG, etc. Do not uninstall it! Go to Google, and search for the “antivirus name” removal tool (ex. “AVG removal tool”).
2.) Run the removal tool.
3.) If the removal was successful, try playing the game. If Unsuccessful do step 4.
4.) I want you to download the McAfee removal tool + Norton removal tool.
THIS IS WHY********
9.5x/10 Norton + McAfee are KNOWN for being install as bloatware when installing/update such things as flash/shockware/silverlight/reader/etc. They are most likely on your system, and causing issues.
5.) Once you know your system is completely clean I want you do this:
Go to Start > Run > Type in “services.msc” > Sort the list from A-Z > search for the windows firewall service(should be at bottom) > Right click on the service > Go to properties > and select the drop down box and select “Disabled” > then click the “stop” button (If the service is running).
~~~~~~ If this is truly an Antivirus issue, the above tools should fix the issue ~~~~~
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Now lets get into your router.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Generally the IP will be 192.168.1.0 or 192.168.1.1 (if not check the default IP on manufacturers website)
Go into your router (will have to look up the default credentials, unless you have configured them yourself.
GW2 uses ports: 80, 443, 6112, 6600
With this in mind, configure these port forwards:
those settings now.
Application Name——————-Start——-End—-Prot.——IP Address
Name1———————————-80———80——-TCP——192.168.1(or 0).(blank)
Name2———————————-443——443——TCP——192.168.1(or 0).(blank)
Name3———————————-6112—-6112——TCP——192.168.1(or 0).(blank)
Name4———————————-6600—-6600——TCP——192.168.1(or 0).(blank)
Thing’s I’ve tried to get this to work:
1.) Replacing the router
2.) New NIC Card
3.) resetting my IP connection
4.) Winsock setting configuration
5.) client-port 80
6.) -diag (passed)
I think my issue is a faulty Ethernet chord. I will be testing this tonight.
I took the OSI model trouble shooting from Layer 7-1. When I should have gone from 1-7. Silly me.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Final Thoughts~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I think my original error 7 was because I was on a European Server and I did not know. I am a Systems Analyst at a hospital. I can answer any question you would like, and I’d be more than happy to assist you guys in any way possible.
