Q:

I had a problem before where my computer ran a CHKDSK and deleted GW2.DAT.
Since then I have re-downloaded the client and I can play the game now. The only wrong is that the .dat file is only 14.8 gigabytes. There are no high resolution textures in the game. Hair, clothes, tattoos, etc.. They all look completely terrible.
Also, when I try to use the trading post, I cannot click Buy.. it is greyed out? Idk why..

What I did was … I ran the game with -repair and it verified about 206,000 files.. give or take. Did not update itself. I ran Game Advisor and DxDiag.. will attach. Other than these things.. the game is completely playable and does not crash or anything.

Backup the current files to a different location and uninstall the game. Install the updater / client, close it, and the move the backup files into the new installation folder. Allow the game to update (this will cut down on your download time).

I wouldn’t worry about the high resolution textures though, at least not with your current system.

I will try and see if that will do the trick. It’s just hard because I have a crappy ISP who limits me to 5 GB per day… and I download at 200-240kb/s =/

I uninstalled it, reinstalled to a different location, closed, replaced .dat file and it did not update. It’s ready to play >.<

May have to do a fresh install entirely then.

However, the trading post issue may just be account related to some extent and not client related whatsoever.

The files that are missing though, I’m not too sure about.
