So I have a friend that pre-ordered the game and started playing but quit about a month after release. He decided to play again, but he is on a different server from me, he deleted all his characters but is still stuck on that other server and can’t create a new character on my server, what can he do about this?

Transferring sometimes takes awhile to complete. Remember, there is a seven-day cool-down anytime one transfers, in case your friend transferred more than once. If your friend continues to have issues with the transfer, he can contact CS. Top of Page – Services/Support – Submit a Request.

Good luck.

Oh he hasn’t transfer, he just deleted all his toon (only has a level 10 one) hoping he could pick another server. Does he still need to transfer even though he has no toons?

Hope the wiki is good as it says if you delete all characters the transfer is free.

Yes, he has to transfer to create new characters on another server. And yes, the wiki is correct, he can transfer for free. That is the point of deleting the characters….to enable a transfer at no cost.

He can transfer (select a new Home World) at the Character Selection screen.

Good luck.

Keep in mind there has to be ROOM on the new Server for him to transfer…..

BG makes a good point. If the world is full, your friend won’t be able to join. The good news, though, is that world populations change all the time. Therefore, he should continue to try, even during “odd hours.” I believe he’ll find he’s able to get onto the desired world soon.

Also: you guys don’t have to be on the same server except to play WvW together — everything else you can do while in the same party: open world PvE, dungeons, fractals, personal and living story.

As Gaile mentioned, try non-traditional hours if the target world is full Weekdays from 07:00 to 11:00 UTC is a good time to try: that’s late for US and working hours for the EU.

Just a side note, the Server being FULL is not related to the number of players actively logged in. Either someone has to transfer OUT to another Server or Anet has to allow more players into the Server for it to become un-FULL. Trying at all hours is a good suggestion, but not because less people might be logged into it.

Sure. The population of a world is not the number then present at a specific time, but the total number affiliated with or living in that game world. Sort of like the population of Bellevue, Washington is a given number, even if many are away working in other cities during the work day.
