Hi,

I’ve received a mail from Anet stating that an attempt was made to change my password and that I need to follow the link: https ://account .guildwars2 .com/reset (not the full link) if I did intend to change my email, but I did not.

So my question is, is it a legit site and which sites and emails are legit from GW2, Anet and NCsoft?

Also, if I didn’t try to change the password how is it possible that I received an email to change my password if I didn’t request one? I’ve received two emails so far within a few days.

You can check the phishing emails in the Sticky. And if not there, you can contact CS and ask if they sent you the email. Good luck.

Someone may have your account information, so be sure to secure your computer. There is a Sticky about that, as well.

The hacker has your email and is attempting to “force” a password through. I would suggest you run an antivirus scan using two separate anti-virus suites. Then change the password to both your email and your game account. Do not use the same password for both.

If an attempt has been made twice, then the hacker probably KNOWS a specific password that you have used, and is now using a variation of the password in order to break into your account.

You need to immediately change both the password to your email and game accounts immediately after running anti-virus scans, like TODAY.

I’ve changed both my passwords to something totally different.

Also the email I received was in that phishing email thread. But the link didn’t have any .html or any dots for that matter. Only random numbers at the end.

I’ve recently done a few scans. Will install a second anti virus just to be sure.

They should also make a sticky thread, detailing all of their official sites, emails etc. So that you can refer to that thread if you’re unsure if the link is a phishing attempt or not. Because sometimes the link is so “real” that you could fall for it. I had another phishing attempt some time ago, but I was almost certain it was real, until I realized what was wrong. Won’t be posting further details to give those types of people ideas.

My account has been in the past 14 days under constant attack… Starting to run out of pwds for all my stuff.
Heartbleed anything to do with this?

And as for now, My two 80’s are stripped naked with their stuff sold and anything of value in bank moved or sold, hurray.
Never been under attack for an account so much as in this game.
