Q:
Occasionally my character will continue to run forward or strafe after I’ve released the key. I’m not hitting the auto-run button and hitting it again doesn’t stop her. I can’t find any problem with keys sticking and it doesn’t seem to happen when I play on bootcamp Windows. Any ideas?

Yeah, that’s happened to me too a couple of times. Usually it stops after a brief period, but once I had to log out and back in. It’s not a frequent problem, but it’d be nice if it’s one of the things that’ll get fixed in the next Mac client update/release.

Yeah, happens to me all the time. Dodging into the direction that you’re stuck running toward fixes it (e.g. running right dodge right).

Pressing the Enter key typically fixes it for me.

This happened to me too. I stopped using the beta client right after. Hard to do pvp when this is happening.

Happens to me as well on occasion. I press every button till it stops. Not sure yet what that secret formula to success is.

The secret formula to success would be a native client. This problem not only occurs in GW2, but also in several other games running with Wine or Crossover. I remember Shaiya and WoW, which I have played on Linux using those wrappers.

I’ve had this as well, usually on the rotation keys (when I do use them). I find they a quick tap on the key that goes the direction I am moving tends to turn it off (usually).
I have had to do a reload once or twice.

Thanks for all your replies and suggestions. I’ve tried pressing various keys but nothing works consistently. I presume it just sorts itself out rather than being tied to any of my input.

Yeah happens to me every so often.

On a similar problem I get the spinnies from time to time were the camera spins around the character. Jumping and pulling up the map sometimes stopes this behaviour.

I really hope they resolve this. I’d like to switch to the mac client already

I have the same issue. Wondering why it’s not on the Mac beta known issues list?

You must have pressed the “R” key.
It makes your character run nonstop until you press it again. It’s a shortcut to prevent you from holding your W key all the time while exploring the world.

Good idea, however I don’t think that is the issue. I have keybinded my ‘R’ for one of my skills. I changed my auto-run to ‘command+w’ the problem still persists on my 2012 MBP. Can any Dev tell us the reasoning?

Yup. This happens to me too sometimes.
To fix it, I type: awerfasdfasdfasdfasdfasdfasefcsdf and simultaneously hit the space bar a lot. Clears it right up.

This.
The problem happens running GW1 in Crossover as well. It happens when the mouse leaves the borders of the game window while holding a keyboard key.
Get the mouse pointer back into the game window, click once to ensure focus on the window then type the key related to whatever your character is doing out-of-control (running forward, turning left, …)
