Guild Wars 2

hey,

when I click play on the (fully downloaded/patched) launcher it closes and nothing happens.

I have had this issue ever since I reinstalled the game, I have done all the internet fixes it says to do without any joy. I have even uninstalled the game full delete everything to do with the game and reinstalling it, same problem.

My drivers are all up to date and working. I was able to run the game around 6 months ago, now I cant.

any suggestions???

Same here,played game like few hours ago now i cannot start the game. Quick response would be appreciated.

Java issue maybe? could it be its not up t date?

Wow, I didn’t have that issue, but I do have an alt account that his works great for. Thanks. No more typing in password every time I swap.

Try adding this to your shortcut in the Target field at the end

Obviously use your email address and your password (don’t post them here if this doesn’t work)

-autologin -email foo@bar.com -password foobar -nopatchui

Your target should look something like:
“C:\Wherever\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -autologin -email foo@bar.com -password foobar -nopatchui

Didn’t work for me either, just tried that command line stuff. >_< I have a feeling I’m going to miss out on my dailies tomorrow.

Edit: Also just updated my Java version. Still nothing.

Welp, since Arenanet aren’t getting on this problem a.s.a.p., let’s try and solve this together.

An aspect of what could be the problem is where we’re from. Where are you guys from? I’m from New Zealand. This could be an asia-pacific thing?

Messaged you guys. I hope Anet get onto this. It seems if there are any log in related problems and only affects a few players, it’s left at the bottom of the scrap pile. As it is, at this rate I’ll most likely miss out on todays login rewards >_< for f sake

Still no sign of Anet for this (well, last post was 4 days ago, but no follow up – why am I not surprised). I’m starting to wonder why I bothered posting again on these forums when clearly these things aren’t a priority. Disappointing.

As well as reinstalling the entire GW2 client.

As well as renaming the GW2 files (apparently that worked for some people)

As well as adjusting my firewall settings to allow the ports of GW2, specifically

As well as resetting modem

As well as restarting computer

All did jack -bleep-

Don’t know what else I can do, because clearly nothing works and my internet works fine, so, I have no idea what’s going on, all I know is I just want to pull my hair out.

Hi, I found somewhat of a fix.

I looked at my GW2 tab after all of this drama and trying about 5 or 6 more things yesterday, and thought to myself, this tab either looks really glitchy, or an extremely minimised character select screen. So I thought to myself, maybe, upon clicking the play button on GW2 launcher, for whatever bizarre reason, it automatically minimises the character select screen?

So sure enough, I right click on the tab, and there’s a ‘maximise’ option. I clicked it, and voila! I got my character select screen back!

I don’t know why it just started doing this for me 2 days ago. It’s SO random. As it is now, I cannot reduce it to window mode. I tried, but it keeps automatically minimising it to next to nothing. My only current option right now is playing it in max screen mode :-/ but I guess it’s better than nothing!

Using the Target shortcut Chris provided above, instead of all of what he added, just put in, without quotes, “-resetprefs” (with or without the s, cant remember offhand). When you run via that shortcut, it’ll automatically COMPLETELY wipe out all of your preferences, including preset options. It MIGHT fix your problem. Whether it does or doesnt, I do highly recommend removing the argument from your shortcut afterwards. I didnt for a while, and was getting kittened off at GW2 not saving my kitten xD
