After updated to the latest patch (3/18), my game client has been crashing quite frequently, especially in WvW. Anyone having the same problem?

I’m using a mid-2013 27", 8GB RAM iMac

Same here, it takes about 5-10 minutes between crashes. Crashed twice during the Claw of Jormag event, so event participation, WvW and PvP is out of the window with this patch for Mac users.

i’ve crashed 12 times in the last 2 hours. not even in combat — usually standing still managing inventory. error log says this:

The same for me as well.

Has been running more or less fine since November. Was a few problems on the way that suggested fixes solved. However, with new update game will crash the whole computer (as if power plug had been pulled … am on MBP 15 … more below).

Something that was strange. On the first crash or two, I managed to log into the game without the update occurring. My wife logged in to play (MBP 13), got the update and almost had no issue … crashed to Black screen during AC run but did not shut down and she was able to restart game and finish run.

I have tried clearing cache (Cmd, opt,P,R).

Have done a few searches. Seems some other brands (Asus, Acer?) of Windows OS were having this problem a while back. Could not find a solution.

Yup – broke muh Mac, but Linux under wine does NOT crash like this (if that helps narrow it down at all).

What I did find interesting was the Kernel log. There was reference to CPU notifications. With past problems on OS machines, there was some question as to whether it was CPU related, so I include that below.

There was also speculation as to overheating issues, but as it ran fine yesterday and then not today, I don’t see how that could be a problem.

Started after todays update. Has occurred 4 times. Every 30 min or so. Justing sieging up garri. No combat.

Just another toon trying to get by in a sea of flashy pixels.

More info if it helps:

TOP (errr, Activity Monitor) shows idle 130-ish% CPU at login screen (obv. CPU cores affecting math).

Once I login, Rata Sum graphics, etc start loading as normal (CPU shows 150-ish%).

Within 60 secs after all the graphics finish loading, CPU spikes to 360%, eveything freezes, then client closes to desktop with no return error.

Was being funny – anet’s got something left open in the compile that’s causing it to spin off process/resource requests in a fashion that won’t end.

Race condition to exhausting resources within the code.

Typically caused by a simple typo.

Unless you submit a support ticket you may not see much help in this forum based on my experience. I encourage everyone with this problem to submit support tickets to draw attention to this issue.

I have not seen the problem myself but didn’t do much since the patch aside from trading post stuff.

Since a few months ago I haven’t been able to keep the game on the best settings anymore and forces me to keep it on the ‘Best Performance’, which sets everything on the lowest setting. With the latest patch I just keep getting booted out of the game
entirely just like most.

Same here, random game shut-downs, freeze / crashing and “c000005” error (which I never experienced before) after updating latest patch today.

This is ridiculous, after 3 weeks of bs with FPS issue now comes new bug which makes it impossible to play. Game just crashed several times within 30min on WvW…
Let’s hope that there’s a hotfix underway =[

Yes, the error message only pops up now and then it seems. The first time I crashed, I got the error message, and my computer restarted completely after clicking the OK button. The second crash, it just froze and threw me back to the desktop, no error message. The third crash was the same as the previous one, while once again I got the error message when crashing the 4th time (when trying to submit a ticket to support in-game).

Within 3.5 hours after updating the latest patch, I think the client has already crashed for no less than 7 times, or in other words crashing every 30 mins on average. So Anet has decided to introduce a new bug to the mac client every month along with the new game updates? The FPS issue was fixed on Feb 18th, and now introducing another critical bug exactly one month after….. seriously?
