Since I upgraded to Win10, the client locks up after a couple of minutes when downloading update (big issue when reinstalling GW2 after win upgrade but again now for the Thorns update). The client doesn’t hang up if I go beyond the initial login screen to play the game, (but the files don’t download either, except when I try to travel to a new region).

I have actually be having a similar problem. However it started before Windows 10 for me, but I have tried downloading the latest patch and It doesn’t download. I have left my computer on all night for a couple nights and I remain at 0%, 1 gb downloaded and 80,000 files still remaining. I have not tried to change the region yet, but maybe I will see what that does.

What is set in your option on the bottom for “content streaming” ? Try to set it
on max maybe.

There’s a problem affecting certain CPUs that will cause the launcher to crash/freeze every so many files while downloading. To counter this, you have to limit the processor affinity of Gw2.exe to a single CPU (right click Gw2.exe under task manager/processes).
