Client hangs - login screen wont load
My game client has similar symptoms as yours. Although, it “initializes” fine but the progress completely stops when the launcher has to start downloading. Therefore, the game client won’t let me play and it’s been like this ever since I put the HoT upgrade CD into my computer’s driver.. It has been a week since I last played Guild Wars2 and I have almost given up on it.
Update: still cant log in.
I looked in the following folder
C:\Users\User\AppData\Roaming\Guild Wars 2
and found that a corrupt-xxxxxxx.dat file created every time i try to log in.
below is a small snip of my corruptArchive.log (i tried posting the whole thing but the pages crashes…go figure)
If anyone can interpret that suggest a fix that would be awesome

Hello,
Thanks for contacting Guild Wars 2 Technical Support.
Please try running Guild Wars 2 in a Window. This should allow the game to bypass whatever resolution was picked and from there, you can reset it to full screen in the correct resolution. To do this:
First, please navigate to your Guild Wars 2 folder. By default, this will be C:\Program Files(x86)\Guild Wars 2.
Right-click on “GW2.exe” and select “Create Shortcut.”
Rename this shortcut to “Guild Wars 2 Windowed.”
Right-click on this shortcut and select “Properties.”
Edit the “Target” line to include -windowed at the end. Note: Please make sure -windowed is outside of the quotes -- Correctly Formatted Example: " C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe" -windowed -- Incorrectly Formatted Example: " C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\GW2.exe -windowed "
Once completed, click “Ok” to save your changes.
If you get an error trying to save, your target line may not have the correct format. Please try Step 5 again.
Once completed, try starting Guild Wars 2 again by using this new shortcut.
Please let us know the results of this test at your earliest convenience.
Regards,
GM Szireak
