Client not launching (Mac)
I just had pretty much the exact same experience on the Mac client. Some heap issues, crash and burn, and then doesn’t restart at all. Tried rebooting the computer and running the repair flag, no go.
Interestingly, I just wiped the game and went to reinstall it and it won’t start the client at all after the installer finishes. There seems to be something more strange than normal going on – either the server or something permanent in the system files.
Ok, I went in and wiped the Application Data directory that was referenced here: https://help.guildwars2.com/entries/92943007-Files-to-Help-Solve-Tech-Problems and restarted the client and it starts now. Hopefully that will help some one.
Conjectrue: Maybe the crash dump file is corrupt or something and the client tries to read it on start?
Thanks I’ll try that

I don’t know what you did to wipe the Application Data directory? All I see in the link you posted was how to make a system profile report.
All fixed now. Thanks a bunch ~
Excuse me but i didnt get what you did to fix this problem… Could you explain it?
Same troubles here. I can’t access to those files.
Got the game to start after deleting, repairing…
Crashed again after 20 mins and the launcher does not work again…
This is really a shame of update… please fix this.

Thank you. This has fixed my launching issue, and sadly I’m downloading the game over again, but at least I can SEE my launcher now.
I deleted the game and tried to reinstall it. Not working. The client doesn’t launch and support from AN doesn’t answer my request.
Even worst now. The icon doesn’t appear on the dock. Fix it or refund.
After a crash as I went through a portal, the client wouldn’t start.
So I went to ~ > Library > Application Support > Guild Wars 2 > p_drive > User > App Data > Guild Wars 2
I dumped the settings xml file and the .dat file there.
Started client, set graphics where they should be, and continued ftom there. No re-install needed.
Hope this helps:

For OSX. You need to try this:
you can try to delete the contents of the gw2 data folder, it’s a pain to get to the right one: this step is a general fix for many tp and graphics issues, even without the previous steps however, it will lose all saved log in/password and in-game settings.
To access this:
1 Click on the “Finder” icon located in your dock or the desktop of your computer to make “Finder” the active program in the finder menu bar.
2 Hold down the “Option” key on your keyboard while clicking “Go” in the finder menu bar. A drop-down will appear.
3 While still holding down the “Option” key, click on “Library” in the “Go” drop-down.
4 Once in the Library folder click on Application Support > Guild Wars 2
5 Move the entire Guild Wars 2 folder to the trash and then empty the trash.
The next time you launch Guild Wars 2 it will recreate the recently deleted folder.
It helped me. Hope it helps you too. Or at least gets you closer to playing the thing.
@treemoon
Did this process also wipe out some of your Apple preferences?

You’re only deleting the Guild Wars 2 application support folder. Not the entire application support folder. It doesn’t do anything to your apple preferences or any preferences outside of GW2. Deleting that folder just forces the launcher to rebuild itself. You’re not actually losing any game files or losing any important information.
The first time I deleted that Application Support/…/Guild Wars 2 folder, the game launched and I could log in fine. But today the same problem happened. I tried the same thing again, and it no longer fixes. It is just so tiring trying to get this game to work that I regret buying the expansion so much right now. If you have any suggestions, please let me know. Thanks.
It did not work for me.
Have you guys made sure you’ve tried restarting your computers? Possibly a silly suggestion, but I know a lot of people just don’t ever turn their computers off.
Restarting? I’ve deleted any trace of the application, even in Library, tried to reinstall it and the client doesn’t launch. No word from ANet? This is infuriating.

As in turning your computer off and then on. Sometimes processes don’t quit properly and they prevent the GW2 client from running. Turning your computer off and then on again after deleting the GW2 application support folder would fix that.
Have you submitted a support ticket? They don’t respond directly to forum posts in Tech support (only very occasionally).
Rage mode off. Just downloading now. I will wait until the download finish and see.
I suggest to delete all and try.
@Treemoon: your advise worked for me, i just hope i don’t have to do this every time the game crashes, which is very often…
Honestly my client was working really great before the expansion, really sad to see old problems coming back…
Hope they fix it fast.
Thanks everyone for advise and support.
Just wanted to mention…if you reboot your machine, be sure to give it at least 30 seconds before turning it back on. If this is a memory issue, then the capacitors will need time to discharge and dump the memory. Just a restart may not work. We had to remove the app, and now it works. Will see for how long. I have been working with tech support, but they have been useless.
Hope this helps:
