Instead of having things spread out, here are some solutions to the common problems:
1. The launcher freezes
— This problem has been fixed —
The launcher (or setup) appears to freeze within a few seconds of opening it. This causes the launcher to be unresponsive, input fields do not work and any downloads appear to stop.
This is caused by CoherentUI attempting to use a proxy, which it doesn’t seem to support. Since it gets stuck in a loop, the interface is no longer updated. The launcher is still working however and any downloads in progress are still actually downloading.
Solution
Under the Control Panel, search for and open Internet Options. This may also be found under the Tools menu in Internet Explorer. This will bring up the Internet Properties window. Select the Connections tab and click the LAN settings button near the bottom. Here you will want to ensure that all the checkboxes are unchecked and remain unchecked after clicking OK. If they do not remain unchecked, you have another program managing your proxy settings and will need to disable it.
If that doesn’t work, additionally disable any VPN/tunneling software and any other network related optimization software you may be running.
But I legitimately need a proxy and/or one is forced – a workaround
You can bypass the launcher by creating a shortcut to Gw2.exe with additional command line parameters. To add them, right click the shortcut and select properties. Under the Shortcut tab, add these options to the target field as follows:
“C:\Example\Gw2.exe” -email myemail@example.com -password mypassword -nopatchui
Keep in mind that this doesn’t fix the problem and is only a workaround. You will not be able to access the trading post.
In order to download patches, you will need to run the launcher normally. Keep track of the file size of Gw2.dat to determine if the launcher is downloading anything.
Advanced
For those wanting to attempt something that may not work.
Besides setting up a VPN, as a temporary solution you can setup a local proxy to filter your internet traffic to make it appear normal, as if it wasn’t a proxy. Fiddler is an easy-to-use debugging tool that can help you do this. Install Fiddler, run it and accept its root certificates when asked. Simply start capturing (File > Capture Traffic) to enable the local proxy, which will translate all web requests and fix any minor errors. Stop capturing when you’re done.

2. The launcher appears after opening then is invisible
After opening the launcher, it will say initializing then dissapear but remain in the task bar. Trying to minimize/restore the window will have a flashing effect and/or do nothing.
Solution
Your monitor’s color settings are too low.
Right click your desktop and select Screen resolution. For each monitor, right click the monitor and select properties. Under the monitor tab, adjust the Color setting near the bottom to True Color (32 bit) or the highest you have available.
If your highest available is only 16 bit, you will first need to ensure you have the latest graphics and monitor drivers. If it hasn’t changed, you will need to use the command line workaround or invest in new hardware.

3. The launcher crashes with an error message (details) about file creation or access
If Gw2.exe is located under the C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86) folder, administrative access is required when making modifcations to these folders. You will need to either run the game as an administrator or move GW2 to another location.
Anti-virus software may also be deleting or blocking the file. Add an exception for the folder where GW2 is located.
