most likely solved: Replaced the power supply and it is successfully running. No issues as of yet.

Hi everyone!
Since the latest update, I have been unable to play GW2 consistently. It’s at random, but between 10 minutes and 2 hours my computer will restart. It does not go through a shut down process, it will flicker as if you cut the power (although the lights in my computer do no flicker) I figured this was over heating, so i cleaned out the computer with compressed air thoroughly and tried again. Same issue. Note: There are no error messages to report. No BSoD and no GW2 in game errors.

Previously I was doing duel Monitors. I would watch vimeo, be in voice chat, and have my gw2 windowed. I lowered my graphics setting as this continued and unplugged 1 monitor. Still it did not fix anything.

I plan on uninstalling and reinstall GW2. Any other suggestions?

Here are my specs, I’ve been told it could potentially be a power issue, however i’ve been playing duel monitored for about 4 to 5 months without this issue. All started with the graphics update/reset (yes I did change it back/lowered it significantly):

I had a similar problem a few months ago, but my computer would restart randomly while playing GW2 or not. In the end, it turned out to be a power supply issue (which I thought it was in the first place).

You should check to be sure that all of your connectors in your system are securely in, and see if that fixes your problem. It could also be a virus/malware (which I highly doubt, but you never know), so scan your computer and all that. If none of that works, I would assume it’s your PSU, and either test the PSU with a voltmeter or replace it entirely.

Kk, yeah you’re the third person to give this assessment. I’ll check my PSU cables. I do not have a voltmeter. How much do those normally cost?

Check your thermals and make sure you’re not overheating or throttling the CPU. What is the cooler? I had the same issue as you and upgraded my PSU and all was well within the world.

Install HWmonitor and look at the temps.

When idle things should be in the 40s on air cooling, or low 30s on water.

+1 to Nasher. I use HWmonitor as well as MSI Afterburner. Check voltages as well in HWMon.
