Hello,
I love playing this game, but am unable to determine where the bottle neck is occuring to stay above 50 fps. I play WvW a lot, and am wondering if money were not a problem, what is the key issue that may cause bottle necks?

Currently I am running Intel i7 with Nvidia GTX 760 with 16 gb of ram. But, still find myself dropping and having to limit the highest available setting. I think to myself unbelievable that this is even possible with my setup. Ideas? is it graphic or processor specific? or is it just everyone?

Thanks,
Techyo

Its an optimization issue with the game, having an modern i7 is the best use in this game.

If money were not a problem, you’d be looking at purchasing an intel i7 4960X Extreme Edition and then with extreme processor cooling maybe of the water cooling variety, you’ll be looking at pushing it to 5 GHz or possibly 5.6. Even then your performance in heavy WVW scenarios would likely be sub-par. Or, you could wait for the rumored 8 core Haswell-E i7 Extreme editions and superclock those up. (before anyone says it, you CAN see more performance with more cores on the Intel side of things apparently. So I don’t see why a possible 8 core intel i7 could offer a little more power than a 6 core.)

It’s ridiculous entirely I know but it’s such a sad reality right now.

What’s the spec of your i7?

Yea, even with an i7 extreme, its just not possible to get ‘50 FPS’ in WvW in the heaviest of scenarios.

Anyone who buys Extreme Hardware for this game is just throwing money Away. Until Anet changes the Core of the game engine, its not getting better.

and even 5.6Ghz is not enough. Doing the math of the OC benefits you need 8.3Ghz to sustain 45FPS in the worst scenarios.

Well if someone wants the absolute best performance they can get and if Guild Wars 2 were the only game they played… :P

haha, even then. its not worth it :-)

I respeced my system over the last few days. Adjusted my ingame settings, once again, and redid my OC on my i5-4670K. and I never dip below 28FPS in WvW now. But I also run at 1600×900 when playing GW2.

If anyone wants ‘decent’ performance on this game, sacrifices need to be made. and its not all at the hardware level either. I think the biggest issue is running 1080P for a poorly coded DX9 game. I feel that 1600×900 is the ‘sweet’ spot to get the best performance for the low of lows.

But on the upside, I now break 230FPS where I would cap at 128FPS before :-)

and the heatsinks from Proliamtech….are AWESOME. I’m getting the SAME temps I was getting on my H100i…..seriously.

Just ordered their GPU Cooler to see how it goes up against my modded H60 that I have on my 7790.
