Guild Wars 2

So the problem is the game has this unpredictable shut down to it, it could be 10minutes of playing or 4hours of playing and my game (guildwars2) will restart my computer.

I’ve tested other games, and nothing happens, I could play them all day and no restart or problems close to it. I’ve heard of overheating being a problem but so far my temperatures are nothing to dangerous 50-60.

The only “error” I really get is after my computer restarted, before hitting start up it tells me my computer suffered a “Power supply surge detected”. I’m almost positive that it’s not my hardware because this has never happened before and I’ve had my hardware for a decent time everything is fairly new.

Has anyone found a fix? or has this problem been known for some time now?

If anything is needed to help with this let me know I’ll post everything I can.

Unfortuantely, yes it is a problem with your system. If your system shuts down without warning, your have a serious fault outwith the game. It is merely a coincidence that this happens with GW2. Because GW2 “stresses” a system its played on, any inherant faults (even minor ones) will become apparent.

If the system is recovering and giving you a “power surge” warning its likely that your power supply unit is starting to fail. I would STRONGLY suggest that you test the PSU with a DMM tester kit. If you are not comfortable with that or unsure on how to do so then take the system to a qualified outlet for PC repairs and have them check the system for you.

There are other causes for a surge issue, but they are all hardware related. So my advice stands. Have the system tested. Or it could well go “pop” and become inoperable.
