Computer shut down with r9 280x
Mostly its the PSU, but you already checked that. Else i think somebody had that
problem lately due to defect RAM modules. So remove maybe half of your RAM
and check it, and then check it with the other half.
Best MMOs are the ones that never make it. Therefore Stargate Online wins.
did you check your cpu and gpu temparatures?
This can cause shutdowns to.
Yes I’ve tried each stick 1 at a time in each slot. The temperatures never exceed 55c on either. And the 950w was working fine in my other computer. The game runs fine on this other computer. I have it in a file on a separate ssd. I moved that ssd to my other computer which is an old school maximus formula with the same graphics card and the game runs fine on that computer. And its running a cheaper 750w cpu. Like I said both psu are corsair. They are older 3 and 5 years but I can’t see same problem with both psu in that computer and work fine on the maximus
does the System just reboot or do you get a black screen before your Bios reposts? I would run some logging tools (GPU-Z and such) to desktop, and see what the logs output. also what is Event viewer telling you? I doubt there is a error code since its a reboot like this, but there could be something there.
also any recorded BIOS events?

If it reboots i would of course suggest to enable blue screens first. However shutdown
for me don’t sounds like reboot.

It shuts off like if you pull the plug. It won’t turn back on unless you push the button. Sometimes I have to push the button 2 or 3 times before it turns on. I can leave the game rappelz logged in idle for 24 hours and it’ll stay logged in. Log it off and log into gw2 and within 10 minutes it crashes. I can basically do anything but play gw2 on this hard drive on this computer with this graphics card. Idk if it had anything to do with it but I been playing the standard game a few weeks. I purchased HOT unlocked a small part off the first HOT map logged off came home later and this problem started aND I haven’t played since
And no bsod and it is enabled
So if i understand it right you have changed everything beside your mainboard and CPU so far ?

Yes sir. I’m about to try some things asus suggested. I’m starting to think it’s in the board but can’t figure out why everything else works
it could be a thermal safety shut off. In your BIOS look for BIOS events and verify what the shutoff temp is set it (if its enabled).

Something might be wrong with mainboard, and my guess is it could be this thing marked on the photo (hidden under radiators). It might be either overheating or it’s faulty. It supplies power to the CPU, and GW2 is very CPU demanding. You can try giving it a better cooling by temporarily putting a fan to cool it (a room fan or something, just to test).

Lol, thats the VRM’s and MOSFET’s. You can test those with load tests like Prim95, AIDA, …ect.

Test won’t tell you if it’s overheating or just broken. Or if it’s a problem with something else on mainboard. Or maybe with memory. That’s why I suggest to check it like this.

Those tests will tell you if its overheating, as they load your CPU to test for stability and…cooling effectiveness.
