Shortly after the April 1st event, my computer began randomly turning off while playing GW2. It is definitely an issue with GW2 alone—I’ve played several other games for hours on end without an issue. Yet, it’ll happen 95% of the time when I try to play GW2. :|
Timing is random—it can be a few minutes after loading up the game or over an hour. I’ve re-installed the game and updated my video card drivers, but that hasn’t helped.
I can’t really play this way and it’s driving me batty! Anyone have ideas to stop this?
First make sure that your windows is not automatically rebooting on bluescreens,
so that you will notice if you have a bluescreen.

Ok .. now if you have a bluescreen, you may write us what the bluescreen shows.
Especially if there is something like :
Error in Module XX (nvdisp.dll for example)
If your computer is still simply rebooting or turning off its mostly your PSU that shuts
down when your PC needs more power than it can deliver.
And yeah .. it may have worked till now .. but PSUs can “age” .. and also other stuff may
still run, but GW2 stresses your PC a lot and so it needs a lot of power.

Have you checked to see if it’s overheating? My laptop was doing the same thing during some of the newer content. It didn’t feel very warm, so I assumed it was fine. There’s al sort of programs that will monitor the internal temperature for you. I bought a cooling mat for mine and now everything works fine.

95% of all Reboot / Shut Down issues are either Power Supply or Memory related failures (but Windows DOES default to rebooting on ANY BSOD so you need to turn that off first).
If you are getting a blue screen the TRAP error (google it) can often lead to the root of the problem.

I turned off the reboot on BSOD. Nothing changed—my computer still shuts down entirely, at random. No opportunity to get an error. :|
It’s neither overheating nor overdrawing the power supply. I trust my electrical engineer husband when he assures me this is the case.

I had this happen on other games with any known cause and its possibly a tiny brown out and or fluctuation in the power in your home, as my laptop doesn’t get overly hot or anything. I’ll notice that my ceiling fan will reset and speed up or slow down considerably at the same time as it occurs, like a power surge happened but it was the opposite.
A great underflow of power in your home will cause a PC or laptop to Shut Down randomly.

If you trust your " electrical engineer husband" more than us, then why ask here ?
I still say its time for a new power supply.

What CPU, motherboard and RAM do you have.
I had random BSOD and restarts on my overclocked I7… Needed to raise volt quite a bit.
Do a Memtest and make absolute sure ur PSU can handle your components.
