I’ve done my due cursory-Google-search diligence to find a solution and that one solution everyone in the universe is supposedly using isn’t working for me.

So, solutions?

My problem evidently stemmed from the “Speedbit Video Accelerator” I installed about as long ago. Thanks to support having me digging around in things, I came across that lingering program I downloaded along with a download accelerator I had installed to faster download a pesky mod that had been taking an eternity to download.

I’m no tech expert but you’d probably do well to get rid of such extraneous internet related programs, if you’ve found yourself stuck with similar problems.

Same. My friend who lives like half a city away but has the same ISP is having no problems.

The launcher does not even try to connect. Like no, neither my connection nor my computer are that fast. It just straight up retries into infinity and the window freezes.

i figured i’ll reinstall it and see if it fixes the problem, but now i can’t even install it lol….

Yea i tried reinstalling and same problem here…. I guess something is wrong with some EU connection servers or something like that

Re-installing doesn’t help (doesn’t even want to install again), turning off my firewall doesn’t help, tryed even the things suggested here (https://forum-en.gw2archive.eu/forum/support/support/PC-Install-Issue-No-Connect-Download-Fail) and it didn’t help… It just freezes and it takes a really long time to close….
I’m in EU if this helps but I talked to a girl from US with the same problems… so I’m not sure it’s just EU…

I have the same problem. Worked just fine around 2.30pm my time; now (1.30am) doesn’t work. I ran the diagnostic on the Gw2.exe and some of the connections failed to connect:
206.127.158.31:80 – connect failed;
206.127.158.31:6112 – connect failed;
assetcdn.101.ArenaNetworks.com. – address lookup failed

Those are the errors I get.

It certainly isn’t just an EU problem, unless it is the case that my fondness for Europe over this glorified hillbilly colony I was born in somehow has turned my internet European.

I’m from EU but I play on Blackgate and have this problem. I can’t say if it’s just because I’m from EU or is it also on NA servers.

The link you provided fixed the issue for me as well. That being said I think this should be fixed by Anet and not by users changing the setings on their computer. Some of the users are not confortable changing setings they know nothing about.

I tried with changing IPv6, but it didn’t fix the problem. Later I tried to changing IPv4 aswell, and that suddenly it became working. Thanks guys for fixing this right before holidays =)

Well, surprise surprise, it doesn’t work.
Maybe, it was stated at the top, that he tried all the fixes he found and these are the fixes that you can only find.
“Add line to hosts”
“Set your DNS”. It-is-not-working. That’s the point.

Wow, so many people with this very same issue. I thought I got hacked and someone somehow messed with my client installation on my computer, remotely. It happened to me 12 hours ago. I got disconnected and then my client closed, it happened super fast, and then when it tried to restart itself it couldn’t.

Well, at least I’m not the only one. But I don’t want to add that line that’s listed as a solution on reddit. I mean, what if opens up a port for hackers, or even worse… the NSA. Lol that was a joke. The NSA are the good guys. But what if it’s North Korea trying to hack American servers because of The Interview? They hacked Sony. Wouldn’t be surprised they hacked Arena too. Or just anything remotely American.

And then there’s that question, how did that guy on Reddit figure out what the solution is? What if he’s a hacker? What if it’s a trap and you actually make your computer more vulnerable?

i still cant log in even after changing the DNS to google’s…. after entering the password, it think for like 1 min and then says connection problem : “due to firewall ect” this is wrong since iv been playing on the same net and same computer for over a year…. wtf

In the last 3 days every day from 19h to 23h im geting lags / dc / and loging problems never got that before and all my other games work fine so its not to me . When are you gona fix this problem
