Chicago area Comcast…
You guys really need to sort this out. Move your kitten patch server or what ever but just about every kitten patch does this and it not on the user to have to be responsible for this.

Also Anet fix your program so that is doesn’t force me to use task manager to get it to close when it hits this state…
I’m on Detroit Comcast, which goes through Chicago. Same problem. So how do I patch and play?
I get the same problem.
Just so you know you’re not alone… It usually helps
Same problem here, EU though.

same problem here.
Same problem here
I was playing and when ported to Kryta game closed and now launcher is giving me same message after few seconds of transfer 1kbs/0. Is it maintainace because of todays patch, anything else or maybe its just a random error?
Europe – Poland
Same problem and from the netherlands, but seems a gw2 wide problem
Ok here’s a quote from Anet staff:
Don’t worry, Point of No Return does *not mean that you won’t be able to update & Return to playing #GW2. Hang in there briefly! ~RB2*
same probleme here
I glad I’m not alone with this problem. What happen to you got wonderful holiday and forget to make a perfect patch, ANet?.
I demand TP gems for these, grievous, inhumane, absurd delays.
Also, when the client is “busy dividing by zero” in this state, CPU usage on Win7 is 49%.
same problem here im from kuwait
Same issue. Tried on both my direct internet connection, and multiple VPN connections (chicago, la, houston, and miami)
me too, cox oklahoma
Exactly same problema here, from Spain…

“Connection error(s) detected, retrying…”
from GW2 official facebook:
“If you’re experiencing connection errors, keep an eye on www.twitter.com/guildwars2 for updates.”
I had the same problem but I fixed it by running GW2 as an administrator. I hope this helps anyone else
sobs been waiting for the update, and now it doesn’t work.
It’s like playing russian roulette on the website as well, sometimes it loads, sometimes it doesn’t. xD
Hope a solution gets found soon! Also regarding to the massive lagg / dc’s on the european server.
(now the question will be wether this post will be posted or a 502 error will pop up)
same here, Leeds, UK, will try Charlottea’s advice above…
(also trying to get into this page whilst logged in took 20 mins of tearing out hair; I suspect you have quite the queue building up…)

Can’t login after the forced patch(the one 30mins ago).
Tried to install by running GW2 as administrator. Got stuck at 95%……….
Exactly same problema here, from Spain…
Finally waiting on this message window it begun to run, but got stuck at 99% with a rediculous speed of 10 – 90 KB/s.
Somebody know, what is the total of MB of this patch? currently i have downloaded 943 MB.
Try to put this: “C:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 93.188.135.37:80
On: right click on the shortcut → destination
That worked for me.
Thanks for this! Worked for me too.

You guys just went to 100% directly or waited for those 2 remain files?
‘cause it’s sounds not working here
It downloaded the 2 remaining files, but at full speed (instead of 60kb), took 30 sec.
how can I do this trick in mac osx?
Macintosh
Right/ctrl-click GuildWars2.app and choose ShowPackageContent
Find Contents>Resources>CiderSettings.plist
Using TextEdit find this line:
<string>—cmdline ""</string>
Add the command line arguments you want between the quotation marks like this:
<string>—cmdline “-assetsrv assetcdn.101.arenanetworks.com:80”</string>
I tried some ips with this command but i didn’t get my download =/
Try to put this: “C:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 93.188.135.37:80
On: right click on the shortcut -> destination
That worked for me.
I’m nominating you most awesome person of January 13th. Google needs to make one of those logo image things in your honor at their home page.
@ ArenaNet: This has been an issue for the last several updates. Any word on when this will get addressed?
Try to put this: “C:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 93.188.135.37:80
On: right click on the shortcut -> destination
That worked for me.
Thank you! This worked like a charm – now getting my full 6mb download speed on it – was trickling at 1kb-10kb
finally got to the update. still can’t get the speed to change. even modifying the asset server. i bet it’s my isp. even though nothing else in my house is having any trouble.
Try to put this: “C:\Guild Wars 2\Gw2.exe” -assetsrv 93.188.135.37:80
On: right click on the shortcut -> destination
That worked for me.
I can’t tell if it’s working for me. My connection is normally around 10-100kb/s. I wish I knew how big these files were, because I’m not even sure if I can resolve this.
Hasn’t this been a problem for over a year now? When is it going to get addressed?
after a couple more server changes, got it working finally. little slower than it should have been, but much better than 100kb/sec lol

Can someone tell me what this means? I have no experience with coding what-so-ever. My C drive is a Solid State Drive, so I put everything on my D drive instead. Do I have to do something differently? I’d appreciate any help, as every time I try to launch the GW2 launcher now it fails and I have to restart my whole system. -_-

So for anyone that is super confused like I was, I just figured this out….
Right click on the GW2 icon or shortcut. Go to properties. Go to the shortcut tab. There should be a box that says the file location for the GW2 application called “Target.” In that box add -assetsrv 93.188.135.37:80 behind the last " mark with a space in-between. For those of you with large monitors, the symbol before the assetsrv is a dash! I hope this helps, I know I was really confused by the previous instructions with the whole “destination” thing.
This worked for me! I went up to a whole 400kb/s instead of 5kb/s! lol

Someone beat me to the explanation above. That should do the trick. I just made a new shortcut from the main directory to the desktop and changed that one. If the speed isn’t better, try a different asset server address from http://gw2status.de/ (3rd party(?) anet server status page for gw2)
