Ive been having loads of lag and connection issues while having 90 fps. the last few weeks, i checked my computer. checked my internet.. and then i checked the connection, and read some on the forum. When i used connection check to my server (Farshiverpeaks), it didnt even connect. trough CMD. i also noticed that very very very many about 80 % that had the issue was from norway. a few days ago i even had 100 fps and 50 seconds skilldelay in my HOME INSTANCE…. Here you see..

Same here. This game is unplayable for me atm.
Server: Far ShiverPeaks
Country: Norway
ISP: Telenor

Same here. Thought it was my internet,
even tho I have a really fast internet.
So kinda “comforting” I see you guys with the same problem..
It’s nearly unplayable for me! x( From Norway, EU, btw.

Same here, been like this the last week. Never had constant lag like this before (300+ ms). My other online games work fine (30-50 ms). I also experience disconnects more often than before. The game is nearly unplayable.
Traceroute shows that the bottleneck is the Tinet.net gateways/servers, which are connected directly to the GW2 gameservers. I’m not sure, but my client was perhaps routed via another gateway before that didn’t cause this latency.
I really hope Anet will investigate this further.
Playing on Gandara (from Norway).

Same problem as Arya. With packetloss and high ping to Tinet.
Also from Norway @ Underworld

What the op says, game have became very laggy last couple days, makes it unplayable.
Never been an issue before.
Also from norway@Gunnars Hold

Same issues as the people above, with the game being unplayable since Wednesday.
Game is constantly laying in between 300-400ms in latency.
Country: Norway
ISP: Canal Digital (Telenor) – Cable

Same here, from Norway & Gunnars Hold
EDIT: Should mention its fine from about midnight and untill morning. Maybe because of less players online at those hours?

As all the others above me I too have lag, teleporting everywhere+2-3 seconds delay upon skill activation. And internet works just fine as well as other online games, they’re all perfect except for GW2.

I’m from Norway,Far Shiverpeaks server,EU.

Same Issue. Lag makes even PvE unplayable.
Server: EU – Piken Square
Country: Norway
ISP: Telenor
As other people reported here already, every other internet related activity works fine. It’s just GW2. The issue has appeared 2-3 days ago.

It seems like there is a problem with the norwegian ISP: Telenor.
Probably send a ticket to them and anet. And let them both work it out

Im also from norway, using telenor… But its only gw2 that is having those issues, other games like swtor have 0 delay at all…

I have been having the same problem for weeks now, the game is completely unplayable for me.
I can play any other game perfectly…
Country: Norway
ISP: Telenor
Server: Desolation

Hey
i have recently got pretty big skill lags and dces and other forms of lagg in the game. At first i thought my internet was the problem, but then I tried to play with a friend with his internet and he could play fine but i still had laggs. I have also tried to use a cable and I am sure it isn’t my computer specs that are the problem. Can you please do something about it soon, because as for now the game is unplayabale
Country: Norway
ISP: Telenor
Server: Aurora Glade

Same problem as most of you. Having DCs, having 5-15 sec skill lag, rubberbanding constantly.
No other game has any lag, only GW2.
A fix would be preferable, as the game is unplayable at the moment.
Country: Norway
ISP: Telenor
Server: Piken Square

Country: Norway
ISP: Telenor

Server: Seafarer’s Rest, EU
same problem here. Ridiculous lag, completely unplayable at times. Everything hits me during a dodge.
Country: Norway
ISP: Telenor
Server: Desolation

Thought it was just me…
Country: Norway
ISP: Telenor
Server: Aurora Glade
Absolutely unplayable. 1 to 3 seconds delay on everything average, with “waves” of upwards of 10 seconds of delay. “Lag warping” and outright disconnects as well.

I have the same problem,Dc all the time and skill lag up to 20 sec The game is not playable at all
Country:Norway
Server: Seafarer’s rest
ISP:Telenor

Same problem from Norway.

as you see here there is LOAADS of people from norway having this issue, by any chance 50 % of those are also at far shiverpeaks. this was about 80 % of the people from that had lag was from norway. Il link the thread here and you’l see. somthing i also know is that all the servers which had issues there was by any chance in germany. And both sweedish and finnish internet trafic is prolly going trough sweeden.

Might be a issue to sweden or sweeden’s connection with germany’s servers. even though sweden might not be affected due to they might have their own “channels” but both norway and finland’s internet trafic goes trough sweeden. and all that had issues on their server was placed in germany. so i belive that if you combine northwest EU + going to germany has some issues. i even tried to check my connection with the server…. it didnt even connect when i used CMD. hopefully this will help

Not just Sweden, having terrible lag out in Ireland, particularly around 8-10pm GMT, Bulgaria was having a bit of lag around that time too.

I think it’s too much traffic on GW servers

I am having problems aswell, from Norway. Gunnars Hold server.

My initial thought was that it might be an issue related to port forwarding, but I’ve opened the ports needed for GW2, and still experiencing lag.

Hope someone has a solution soon. Jump puzzles are impossible to do with this.

One more person from Norway having the exact same issues since last week.

After looking into it some more it seems like the problem might lie with Telenor and their partner GTT (tinet.net), which handles traffic for other ISPs as well.

Bottom end is it’s made the game rather unplayable for a lot of people, I wish Arenanet would at least acknowledge these issues on their forums and tell us to contact our ISP after looking into it or something instead of just dead silence.

Seems Telenor isn’t much help either though, judging by this (in norwegian): https://nb-no.facebook.com/telenornorge/posts/10152178235034803

Same problem for me. Playing out of New Zealand on a EU server. The lag & disconnects happen when trying to play during EU prime time.

I’m no expert in this field, but when I compare traceroute reports of my own and those I have seen in different threads in this forum concerning this issue, it could well be that node ae5.fra61.ip4.tinet.net [141.136.107.218] in France is the one to blame. Seems that each route report that reveal latency issues have that node listed and ping usually rises high right after that node. If you google that address (ae5.fra61.ip4.tinet.net), you will find out that some dota2 players have been suffering from this same problem last couple of days and conveniently, their route reports include that very same node. As I already said, I’m no expert but maybe someone who is could look further into this or speculate what might cause this.

You might NOT be an expert. But you did expertly diagnose this issue.

That hop would be at fault, and anyone who had a contract with that ISP should contact them and get that hop adjusted (over subscription) or fixed (faulty Interface Card, Routing Engine, or failing/aging router).

Until that happens, the issue wont resolve itself.

I shall have a minion get on to that asap.

What are the hops after that fra61? If it’s what I think it is, then fra61 is over subscribed and being used as a ‘central’ BW pipe.

If you have connections out there, see if they are willing to change the BGP tables to route between 2-3 MORE nodes for the affected countries (They can pick and choose source subnets, and change their destination path).

But, ive always had back luck working with the french in networking. They never admit to their own issues, and they rarely administer fixes that actually ‘help’.

Just as I feared. Its a long haul from FRA to the datacenter. Probably oceanic fiber.

Even if your husband works on an ‘international’ level that wont be enough to fix/drive this.

It would have to come down from the French Govt, or from the company’s CEO/CTO for whoever owns FRA61.

and even then, it has to be diagnosed and a project has to be built to fix it. If its oversubscribed (on fiber) there is a reason, and it could be a cost issue or a international issue between Europe’s countries.

Only thing that can be done is contact whoever owns fra61 and report these findings, and call in every week or updates. Or, go down to their offices and request a meeting with their CTO on the matter (Good Luck with that).

Well, we established up in the thread (where I should have paid more attention) it’s owned by Tinet in Germany, and Telenor don’t seem to want to do much with it.

Which is nice.

It’s almost like companies don’t want to do business. :/

Welcome to the backbone. That’s how it is. Though, if its a Germany company their Hop is in France (hence the Fra name in the host). The french Govt would have put rules and reg on that hop for them to feed the pipe through France.

In the US we have the FCC that you can make reports to. I am not sure what organization you can do that to over there however. But that would be a good start, to investigate ‘why’.

The first thing to do is produce my carefully crafted case for Telenor. A response from them may take a little while (as expected), but I’ll let you guys know what happens. If it’s a fail, then yes, I’ll look into the next steps.

The only thing I can’t do is get away from Telenor. If this doesn’t get fixed, the future is rather bleak for Guild Wars 2. Which makes Ceridwen a sad panda.
