Connection issues
I’ve had this same thing happen to me twice tonight during fractals. Died both times because of it. I remember Ky and Foxx trying to help but it had went away for me so I just went on my way. It seems to be happening again. Thoughts? I checked my connection via ping (low level I know) to google.com during the DC and didn’t drop any packets. Odd.
Anyone else run into this?
I’m sorry, I was reading this the other day and fell asleep… Then forgot to follow up! ;p
Pem, how are you connected to your Internet/network? Are you wireless or wired right in? How was your friend connected?
My other concern may be your firewall settings. Do you have the Mac firewall on?
Post back… And I’ll try to respond in a timely manner! Again, my apologies for letting this slip past.
Thanks for bringing this current again Tick!
No worries, Ky! I remember you trying to help me and another guy the other day but my issue cleared up, sadly it’s back again. What’s weird I don’t see any data that is an indicator of problem.
Just to assist, I drop both wired and wireless. The mac firewall is on but the application is allowed. Makes it that much more bizarre…
Temporarily try disabling the firewall.
Also, you may need to verify your ports on your modem/router. I use QoS, but they recommend forwarding.

Something to look into is your console (/applications/utilities/console). Set it to all messages (I believe it uses that by default), then next time you d/c, look there immediately for any events that occurred at the same time as your d/c.
If I think of anything else, I’ll let you know.
