I’ve had GW2 installed since December of last year, and never usually have any major problems. I current run on an early-2009 24" iMac, with the 10.7 OS X, 2.93 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3 memory. The only problems I’ve run into in the past, is sometimes when I try to login, it won’t connect to the server and I have to try again, or sometimes I got DC’d and thrown back to the character screen.

The past few days or so, I’ve been having problems where I’ll be in the game, running around fine, until BAM! All other players and NPC’s stop moving, I can’t read what anyone posts and none of my posts show up after I type them in and hit enter. One of two things usually happens. Either A.) it throws me back to the character select screen, or B.) I have to go to the Game Menu, and Logout – Character Select. When I log back in, everything runs fine for a few minutes, then it happens all over again.

I’ve tried disconnecting and reconnecting the internet, resetting the router and modem, everything. Where I am currently is running off of DSL, which I’ve never had problems with in the past. I had a friend over the other day playing the game alongside me on her laptop, and she had no problems, albeit she may have lagged now and again.

HELP.

I’ve had this same thing happen to me twice tonight during fractals. Died both times because of it. I remember Ky and Foxx trying to help but it had went away for me so I just went on my way. It seems to be happening again. Thoughts? I checked my connection via ping (low level I know) to google.com during the DC and didn’t drop any packets. Odd.

Anyone else run into this?

I’m sorry, I was reading this the other day and fell asleep… Then forgot to follow up! ;p

Pem, how are you connected to your Internet/network? Are you wireless or wired right in? How was your friend connected?

My other concern may be your firewall settings. Do you have the Mac firewall on?

Post back… And I’ll try to respond in a timely manner! Again, my apologies for letting this slip past.

Thanks for bringing this current again Tick!

No worries, Ky! I remember you trying to help me and another guy the other day but my issue cleared up, sadly it’s back again. What’s weird I don’t see any data that is an indicator of problem.

Just to assist, I drop both wired and wireless. The mac firewall is on but the application is allowed. Makes it that much more bizarre…

Temporarily try disabling the firewall.

Also, you may need to verify your ports on your modem/router. I use QoS, but they recommend forwarding.

Something to look into is your console (/applications/utilities/console). Set it to all messages (I believe it uses that by default), then next time you d/c, look there immediately for any events that occurred at the same time as your d/c.

If I think of anything else, I’ll let you know.
