Connection problems
Was in wvw, no zerging, yet lagged and then disconnected for no apparent reason. Happened earlier in fractals. My internet is working fine, even rebooted it. What’s up with the servers?
Same here, I got kicked out, just standing in DR. I was able to reconnect for a few minutes, and experienced 1800 ping for the duration before being kicked again.
Would either of you happen to be in TN?
Would either of you happen to be in TN?
Nashville specifically, yes. But that shouldn’t matter, as the rest of my internet connection is fine.
So is mine, but I am just trying to figure out something.
Who is your ISP?
Oh, it’s affecting the southeast US, you think? You may be onto something. Comcast here.
Yes, I believe so. But what is the question.
Comcast. I was able to log back in once more for a brief time before being kicked a third time; this time I couldn’t use any skills and I had the super ultra running speed bug.
I have comcast as well. I am thinking more and more it may be on their end.
I am having the same issue and popup, Shaman. I actually work for xfinity, and will be delving into this further. You guys might wanna report it in as well, to speed up the process.
If any other user fits the above specifics, please state it here so we can troubleshoot.
Do me a favor and go to speedtest and see what it says. Mine is way below the norm.
My speedtest appears normal to me. And I have no other issues to report involving my internet connection; just specifically with GW2, the game client. Not even the official website is slow.
Working on it now.
Also on Comcast in the SE, got dc’d in a pvp match, couldn’t log back in for the first few tries, then when I could, I couldn’t join a pvp queue. Got some weird firewall message. Rebooted my PC, cleaned it, rebooted again, and now can’t log in at all. Getting the “Unable to gain access to the log-in server at this time…” spiel. Everything else internet works fine, just not GW2.
And, of course… immediately after posting that, I tried again, and it’s working just fine. eyeroll I’m in, anyway. We’ll see if it boots me out of the pvp queue again.
This has been happening to me off/on this afternoon till now. Other threads on the issue:

I live in the Nashville area and never had this happen before also my net is running fine at 120/20 mbps.
I don’t know if it is a routing issue at Comcast because I’ve ran tracerts with no issues… Pretty much at a loss here and can’t get into GW2….

I’m able to connect sporadically, but every time something different is wrong and it kicks me moments afterward. I’d be careful that you aren’t kicked while the game puts you in a match you can’t join.
Am actually in a match. Hopefully I don’t lock up in it again!
For reference, I’m near the Nashville area, as well – I’m sure I route through it.
I’m having trouble logging in from the Panama City area, I also have Comcast as my internet provider.
I’m in Huntsville, Alabama and have Comcast and am seeing this as well. However, I do not think this is a Comcast issue. For one thing, it’s not just the game, it is some web sites as well that load slowly or not at all. Also, a friend in Calgary, who obviously does not have Comcast, is noticing issues as well, not with GW2, but with some web sites (different ones than me).
I am thinking this is likely a node issue somewhere along the network that whatever Tier 1 provider Comcast is using is likely having. That some node or router is likely used to route traffic to other locations for other people such as my Calgary friend so he sees different issues.
But regardless, there is certainly an issue happening, and it’s been happening for a while as I saw this originally around 4pm central time.

In the Panama City area as well. Both husband and I have been having issues since about 3pm.

Ontario, Canada on Rogers having trouble here too
Guess I should add that here in Nashville I didn’t start having issues until about 7:15PM CDT – game was running great from 4PM until then. And just the one connectivity issue with GW2 specifically, everything else is fine.
Sorry for those who’ve been waiting hours with multiple issues.

Same here.

Same here.
Some sites for me are slow though.
Well, I managed to get connected to the game again, and it’s running with 50-80 ping like normal. Been stable for about ten minutes.
I was on the phone with a comcast agent and he was saying that they are getting calls from SE USA in bulk at the moment, so something is going on for sure.
Will keep you guys updated if I know anything new. Going away for a bit, TTFN.
I am in Tennessee. Game crashed and have not been able to get back on for over an hour
Just a heads up, husband and I were able to get on and (keeping our fingers crossed) everything is working fine.

Figured I’d add to this thread since Vexarian works for Comcast. I’m also having this issue and I’m from the SE, right outside of Atlanta GA. (Cobb County area)
Same problem here, East TN, off and on extreme lag with some websites just not working. And yes, we have Comcast.
Been stable for about 30+ minutes for me as well. Considering we are seeing another of our Canadian friends having this issue, it’s likely this is a backbone issue and not an ISP one, but a backbone that Comcast uses more heavily then other ISPs in the states.

The problem appears to be resolved now. Feel free to add me in game you guys.
I’m having this same problem, only I’m in Washington. I do have Comcast, though. Ping has been through the roof, and have dc’d in pvp a couple times now.
same here, ping is hitting around 4.9k then disconnecting. NEVER had this problem since launch. Servers running on coal? Getting really tired of this… I can’t even mine ore properly.. jeez -__-
( YES my internet is fine. )

Whatever it is, it’s not the game servers. Remember, your connection doesn’t just leave your ISP and then go to Anet’s servers, it goes through a LOT of routers on the internet “backbone” first. The issues that caused this thread to come about were issues caused by a router or node along the backbone, not ISP or game server issues.
If it was a true game server issue, then everyone connected to that server would have issues, not just you. I suggest keeping track of what the game servers IP address you are on when you start having problems and then immediately run a tracert to find the hop truly causing the problem.

Northern IN. Comcast. Ping spikes usually occur 9pm EST to 4AM.
Do a traceroute…see thread here:

You can see mine at the bottom where the ping picks up with a whole lot of timeouts.

Yes, but your tracert also shows it is not an issue with either Comcast or Anet’s servers. It is happening along one of the network likely of one of the Tier 1 providers that your ISP hooks up to as do most web servers.

I certainly wasn’t implying it was. Thank you for your response.
