In-game mail has nothing to do with your email account. Anyone can send you in-game mail, regardless of your log-in email.
As far as frequency of receiving in-game spam mail, that seems to be rather sporadic and unpredictable. Personally I get about a half-dozen or so spam mail per week. I wouldn’t worry too much about it, just report them, delete the mail, and move on. At least that’s what I do.
On the other hand, if you’re talking about email spam from gold-sellers, then yes, that is absolutely something to be concerned about. Make sure that the email address you use to log in to GW2 is not used for anything else, and that the password for that email address and your GW2 password are both unique and not used for any other accounts of any kind, and are not the same.
Hope this helps.
Hi Ferny.
JunkyardWolf is right. Besides, users have been notifying a decrease in the number of gold seller emails that they receive. So we would ask you to just keep on reporting and then deleting them, as this is the best way to help us.
Thank you very much.

If you get a verification email, that means somebody has your account name and password, and was only stopped from logging in to your account due to the verification system. You should probably make sure to change your password to something you didn’t already use anywhere else (and you shouldn’t do so in the future) and, just in case, check if you used that password with anything else and change those account passwords accordingly if you care about their security.
That being said, being hacked is not in any way connected to the gold spam you see in the ingame mail. You see hacking and gold spam mentioned together often, because the gold sellers often first hack an account and then use it to spam advertising, but that does not mean that receiving said spam could pose a threat in any way.
Excuse me CC Eva, (please read)
I have an important question! I apologize if its been answered before. It has to do with the content gold sellers email us sometimes. It hasn’t been happening for a while though I guess.
I stopped getting as many gold seller spam as I used to but for a while I was getting spam with 1 copper in the mail to stop it from being deleted.
I didn’t know any other way to delete the mail except to accept the 1 copper then delete the email…
This won’t flag peoples accounts if they get emails like this and accept the copper so they can delete the mail? I am afraid of having the email fill up my email box but also wanted them deleted right away (the less interaction with such types is the better imo).
Anyway, if theres any special way to delete the email without accepting their ill-obtained copper, please tell me.
I read alot of posts here about people getting flagged who didn’t do anything ankittenhinking it might be related to email stuff. I send game items to friends through the mail system because I told them I was giving it in skype so I type in random characters when giving them stuff like a new upgraded staff, etc.. we link it in party to see if it is an upgrade. Anyway, I don’t have enough time to type a full response during battle so I just mash keyboard buttons and give the item.
This kind of stuff along with gold sellers emailing us won’t get us wrongfully flagged right? Sorry if I’m paranoid, I just spent alot of time on this game and am enjoying it.
Thanks for your time!

Hi Sahfur.
We already stated that you won´t get banned for accepting that 1 copper (hey, a copper is a copper!) but alternatively you can return the message to the sender. In any case, make sure you report the fellow who sent it to you.
Thanks very much for the response! I feel alot safer then, I guess, I’d really rather help people out and run around questing with people than be afraid of any interpersonal interaction.. haha. I’ll keep roaming around and helping. Have a great day!

Am quite suprised that there were 10 gold seller spams in my mailbox after reinstalling the game… Deleted all but 1 of them, and no am going to accept money from a gold spammer…. Am somewhat disappointed with Anet atm. I quit playing a bit ago and unistalled the game due to massive botting, gold spamming and scamming that I just gave up trying to report them and they still keep coming even after I added thier names to my ignore list which is over 50 names added…
Now have reinstalled the game and see that gold selling spam in my mailbox even one a minute later after deleting 10 of them..
Frankly I see no reason to continue playing a game where anet allows this crap to continue… Seems to me that anet is more interested in making money from gold sellers buying copies then in combating these same gold sellers…
You might be encouraged to know that on Tuesday, we blocked more than 3,000 bots. We are actively dealing with this issue and the team has a lot of other plans to address these issues, so I believe you will see a substantial improvement soon.
