Guild Wars 2

Hi all,

The game has begun to crash on me. I can log in. I can get to Character Select. But as soon as DR (or other area) loads, it crashes to a green screen.

I can hear it playing in the background, but all inputs stop. for example, I can’t press Enter then “/dance”. I know this because the Dance ‘sounds’ the character make don’t come up. Same as Cheer.

I’ve turned down the Graphics settings from the Character Select screen but still crashes on login.

I updated my nVidia drivers, pulled my pc apart and cleaned the hell out of it (always a good thing I should do more often), and still nothing.

Is this happening to others from April onwards?

i7-2600 (seen a couple 2600’s have this problem, hope it’s not CPU related)
285GTX (working like a boss still, not overheating)
650W PSU (suppose it could be this, but it lets me play Rome 2 on High and other games without missing a beat, so I don’t think it’s drawing too much)
Win7 64bit
8Gb DDR3

Thanks for trying! No dice, unfortunately. And it’s only GW2 that crashes.

After I got the Portal stone and all. I wish I could gift it, because I’ll try and play occasionally, but if it keeps happening I’ll just leave it for a year or 2. :P

this happens to me as-well, on 2 separate laptops, game will load and can play from anywhere between 2-20mins but the screen goes black, mouse is still visible and moveable and sound continues, one laptop is a gen 3 i5 intell processor, 2.5ghz, 16gb ram, nvidia g force 630m graphics, when game is running i get 40-50 fps on “auto detect” graphics. i tried repairing the game client but now it just crashes more often?

For those with crash problems, try rolling back to this driver if you use nVidia

(edit 2) – Also, turn off auto-updates in Geforce Experience.
