what is the problem?

I’d just like to add since today i’ve also been having this crash, i’d say every one to two pvp matches I get a crash with the following;

Assertion: m_recentlyPlayed.Count() <= PVP_RECENTLY_PLAYED_MAX

Pretty frustrating I’ve been pvp’ing all week perfectly fine until today.

Same here. Crashed 2 times between launch and yesterday, 10 times since.

Ugh.

Crashed 5 times since my last post.

Yup, earlier I was having crashing trying to create a character, now it crashed when I was trying to do CoF and it constantly crashes.

edit: attempting to replace the .dat file now, hopefully that works.

Does this mean go into Documents and rename “Guild Wars 2” into “Guildwars 2” by simple leaving out the space or does it mean to rename “Guild Wars 2” into something completely different in Documents?

I renamed mine into something completely different, next time you log in it should then recreate that folder with the original untouched folder name leaving you with a backup if you like.

I tried renaming the folder but it didn’t help. all my characters are situated in Metrica Province atm. I tried to create a new character (which was a Sylvari) and i got into the game. Kinda weird.

Might be worth mentioning my crashes were only happening inside PvP games nowhere else and this trick fixed my problem so if your crashing from other places this may not do it for you.

Seems like the gw2.dat file in the main gw2 folder is being corrupt. Due to the size of this file and it constantly being updated it can easily become corrupt. I would recommend getting Auslogic’s Defrag program (it’s free, google for it) and defragging the gw2.dat file (C:\Program Files (x86)\Guild Wars 2\gw2.dat). If you decide to delete the gw2.dat file to redownload it, defrag your entire drive first. Be aware though, because of the poor design of this system it can easily become corrupt in future updates. Depending on the speed of your drives defragging the 16gig file should only take a few minutes.
