Ok so I am not sure how many players are experiencing this bug but I cannot load into Heart of the Mists.
It crashes me to the desktop and i have reported the bug, when the game restarts, it asks me to verify my game files, i allow it to do the process, this takes almost 1 hr.
When it finally finishes, i go back in and it crashes again.
This happens to me in the following scenarios:
1. Heart of The Mist – Unable to load into at all.
2. Map Change, its crashing on random maps, last night i crashed on 3rd lvl of Fractal.
Today it crashed on a different zone.
I have also deleted my dat file, downloaded the entire game from scratch but it continues to give me the same error.

The one time I had frequent crashes is when my RAM was going bad. It could be a hardware issue. How long have you experienced this problem? What are your system specs?
I ran a Windows Diagnostic Memory Tool and there was no issues found.
My best guess is that some files are either corrupted or missing which when the game tries to access, it crashes or there is an issue on the server side.
ALso several attempts to repair have resulted in no success.
I have also deleted my entire dat file, and re-downloaded the entire game and i continue to get the same error.
I to am now getting crashing to desktop every day now, it usually because there is corrupt files and it is always the same 8 corrupted files. I just bought a brand new SSD and installed the game on there, it ran fine through wintersdays, as soon as the patch to remove wintersday came, I started having this problem.
Each time I do the repair it returns the same VerifyResults.log each time with the same 8 files requiring re-download.
I have noticed quite a few people starting to experience this problem and I am wondering if perhaps there is a bug in the game or perhaps one of the download servers has corrupted files.
Hi ZilentNight – Could you please attach the full crash report to the thread so we can take a look? You can locate this by navigating to Documents\Guild Wars 2 and it will be the ArenaNet.log file.
I’ve been having this problem starting this week. I keep getting the crash in game and send report to ANet. The first line of the report says something similar to run -repair. I tried running repair and it would get stuck on file 215,454 or something around there. Then the program would stop responding. I then closed it. However when I tried to relaunch, no avail. I checked processes and GW2 had 2 up that I would end, but they wouldn’t go away. I restarted computer, same problem after trying to repair. Stuck on same file. I then uninstalled and am currently downloading the client again. I hope I don’t have the same issue again like you Zilent. My SSD is only 6 months old, I doubt its that, but you never know. I have the latest BIOS for my comp as well. Currently, I have downloaded past the corrupted file, but still 90% to go.
EDIT: If this still fails, I can install on my secondary hard drive. Judging by what happens on my second, might give insight to whether or not I have faulty hardware. However, I’m hoping it just works once installed on the SSD.
I got occasional CTD when entering portals. The game repaired some files once, and sent a bug report . Hasn’t happened in the last 2 days. I could always relaunch and get back to where I was within a minute.
I’ve had this same exact error. It doesn’t seem to matter where you are or where you zone into, it’ll spontaneously crash eventually no matter how many times you repair the files. I freshly reinstalled the game and the first thing that happened was the crash with the same error code. This has happened on both Win 7 and Win 8, so it’s not an OS issue, and all of my other programs work perfectly fine, so it’s not a corrupt RAM or hard drive issue either.
The report attached by 2 other players is the exact same report i have been getting, the only difference being is that my computer specs are different ofc.
I will post my report when i get home in a few hours.
I gurantee you that there is a problem with the game trying to load certain files when visiting Heart of the Mist and certain other maps.
Also after verification and repair, it should download these missing or corrupted files but it obviously isnt doing so.
My buddy is having this EXACT same problem, and has been in contact with ANET tech support for going on 9-10 days now. He has run chkdsk, virus scans, 3rd party hard disk checking programs, msconfig, no problems with NTFS, file system is fine, no bad sectors or clusters, virus scans, he has completely uninstalled the game and re-installed, re-installed drivers, we tried running it in troubleshoot compatability mode, nothing, tried disabling some nvidia drivers, still crashing every 5-10 minutes, it has gotten to the point where he can barely play the game without crashing every 5 mins. It is the exact same couple of files every time he crashes, the same as zilent main cli (591). He repairs every time he crashes and the same files are corrupted again minutes later. It has to be a problem on ANETS end as we have completely checked his comp over, as well as the file system, and we are seeing more and more players with the same issue every day.

Take your PC’s to a specialist shop to have them tested properly with hdd regenerator and memory tests that actually include EXECUTE tests.

LOOK at all the threads on the front page about this issue, but you are right I have 0 logic, you have no idea about my buddies comp, set-up, or situation, yet you come in here slinging insults. Please just stay away from people that are trying to receive help.
Same issue, cannot load into Heart of the Mists. Crash everytime instantly, I have deleted gw2.dat and re-downloaded the game but still the same issue, I ran -verify and -repair before re-downloading too but it didnt help. All my characters are in HotM too across two different accounts.
Same problem here. Tried uping the power management (NVidia control panel > Manage 3D Settings > Select Guild Wars 2 profile > Power Management …prefer maximum performance) and that reduced my crashes from 1 per hour to 1 every 2 to 3 hours, usually on zone change. But still getting the same error. very annoying.
ok guys, so after several weeks of finding a solution to this problem, i ended up performing a System restore to a previous date.
Once i did the restore, the game downloaded the files since the last patch and everything is now running smoothly. I recommend you guys do the same and post your results here.
I havent had a crash now in last 2 days, crosses fingers hope things go on smoothly now
i got the crash because of MainCli too.
i didnt see it mentioned here so i hope this will be something usefull:
it only happens on my engineer. when it happened the first few times i reinstalled the game which fixed the problem. then i played some more with my eng and now i get the crash on finishing mapload again. i had played quite some time and i got the crash after dying by falling. maybe some broken armor piece that causes the error or something?
human male eng. with some green armor from lvl30something.
I noticed in your Crash reports that you have Geforce cards. I had exactly the same errors (560ti). I rolled back the driver to version 306.97 and the problem went away.
Just FYI. I removed the old drivers from the system using first the control panel add / remove programs and then Drive Sweeper to clean up left over files.
During installation drive sweeper tries to get you to agree to installing other tune up tools at the same time, so make sure to mind the check boxes.
As a final note: McAfee tried to automatically update my video driver, so you may or may not know that you did it.

I’ve also been having the same issue. Random and very frequent crashes to desktop since the holiday patch. Someone needs to address the issue. I finally broke down and decided to try a re-install of the game because it’s gotten so bad it isn’t worth bothering to log in the way things stand now.
Re-installed game, played for about 30 mins and crashes started again. No joy. I’m ready to give up and move to a new game. I’d rather pay a monthly subscription for a game that I can depend on working right.
One other note. This problem is definitely GW2 specific. I’ve been running Tera and WoW all day long for two days now with no crashes or problems at all. There’s nothing wrong with my PC.

but heart of the mists doesn’t load and crash the game and every character on the hotm is stuck their :/
Reviving an age old topic but I am having the exact same problem.
I’ve actually been playing since about launch but have just now started experiencing this since I installed the digital copy of the gw2 client. All previous installs have been done from the physical copy and I’ve never had this problem (I was playing just fine 2 days ago). I don’t have the discs anymore though so that is why I have to download the digital copy.
Every time I enter Heart of the Mist, game freezes on that loading screen. And all characters already zoned into the mist are stuck there since I can’t load that map. All other maps load fine.
(Also, if I try to view my Contacts list while on the character select screen, it freezes.. idk)
This is probably the cruelest bug I’ve ever heard of since HotM is the only map I have any interest in going to and to re-install means I have to re-download xx gb of total crap content and hope it fixes the one map I am trying to go to.
