Crash error when pushing play
Does it give some error message that says NULL?
Nope. Just what I have above. I have tried everything. Reinstall, system restore, dnsflush, changing dns to googlepublic servers, reset modem/reset router, pulled a known good copy of GW2 from another computer, tried updating chipset, checked the error dump file in visual studio 13 and all I can get is it’s a 0×80000003 error. Close to just saying screw it and give up GW2.
I’ve been getting the same crash message when I’ve been trying to start the game. Mine did start about a week ago rather than a few days ago.
I’ve tried to update GPU drivers and reinstalling gw2 but neither did help. Did some googling on the GrDeviceGetMetric(GR_METRIC_DEV_CAPS, &devCaps) part of the message. It only found a few result but all of them had integrated Intel chips or GeForce GTX6xx or GTX7xx. One of the results were from the Chinese version so it affects both clients.
That leads me to believe that Anet messed something up with how the game works with Nvidia cards. As the problem is probably hardware related it’s probably best to wait for a patch. Unless you got an GPU laying about.
I would totally agree with you, but I feel like there must be more people who have Nvidia 600 and 700 series cards. So either everyone is keeping quiet about the issue or its something that you and I both have in common?
OKAY. Good news. I fixed the issue. AND here’s how.
- Delete users/username/AppData/Roaming/Guild Wars 2
- Delete CoherentUI.dll/CoherentUI_Host.exe in the GW2/bin folder
Start launcher and it played without error. GG.
Yeah, that worked for me too.
Then it might just be something with CoherentUI crashing in some conditions on nividia cards and then won’t restart again. As it would explain why we started crashing at different times.
