I’ve had this issue i’ve ignored up till now, every so often when entering a new instance/map my game has instant desktop crash, and now I’ve tried starting “breaking the blade” on my thief and it has frozen 4 times so far/desktop crashed once, preventing me from continuing story..why has this suddenly got worse?

Specs are:
9400gt
5gb ram
2.9ghz amd athalon x2 245
32bit windows 7 ultimate

(don’t bother saying “upgrade ya card” “YA CARD SUCKS” or other things like that, i already know this, and am upgrading, but i want this issue sorted first.)

Its because you have a 32bit operating system. The game quickly consumes 2ishGB of virtual addressing and as this is the limit in 32bit windows, crashes out.

you can use bcdedit /set IncreaseUserVa 3072 to increase the user mode address space to 3GB, but this decreases the kernel address space to 1GB.

I doubt this should cause you a problem on your laptop though. so give it a try.

Download the newest driver and after that open up your pc, start cleaning your cpu/gpu fan.. See if this help you..

Well, i get this issue and its always when i log into the guildwars 2 launcher, it randomly hangs the machine, its like a 50/50 chance of it working fine or hanging the machine and it always requires are hard reset.

It is not my machine, no other game causes this and i play ALOT of them, sure games do crash, but they never, cause my machine to lockup at all and most of those crashes are caused by my modding (i love to mod single player games).

Anyway, i have the following hardware config:

Intel Core i7-3820 @ stock 3.60Ghz
8GB DDR3 Dual channel @ 1600Mhz
64-Bit Windows 7 Home Edition
Nvidia Geforce 480GTX – Latest Drivers, so you know.

I never overclock, the risk is never worth the gain and so far, no other game causes this lockup and its yet to lockup while ingame, but then i haven’t played for a few hours straight yet.

Right now, the 50/50 lockup chance is putting me off of playing this game, free or not, i prefer to play a game that doesn’t lockup my machine.

@Squall I don’t think he has a laptop and im 100% sure that this is not a software/OS related issue..

Yeah, i saw 9400M where he wrote 9400GT, so not a laptop

the virtual address crash is valid however.
