I held off on asking this for years, but my computer has pretty much always crashed in pvp and sometimes when doing pve things, like right at the end of a mission, which is the best feeling ever and is the reason why i don’t even complete these missions. Sometimes it even crashed idle, but then it only gave an error that nvidia has recovered from the crash, which is great because nothing moved. I’ve read somewhere that due to this it may be related to my nvidia graphics card. Right now the best solution is to play the game in 640×480 for pvp, which is pretty hard to play in intense situations. I’d love to keep playing pvp, but this is making the game unplayable crashing in the middle of a match about 3 times in a row, where you have to reset the computer to fix it because the audio either stutters or keeps playing sounds and then the screen goes black. Thankfully the SSD makes reset time about 10-15 seconds, but it would still be significantly nicer without crashes.

My specs are
Processor: Intel Core i7 4790K
Graphics card: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970
Ram: DDR3 16 GB

Peak temperatures for the graphics card are around 60-70 C

Thanks

There’s no reason for you to crash using a 970. Check your nvidia drivers are up to date, and it might be worse making sure that your graphics card is securely in the pci-e slot, and screwed in place. A GPU that’s not properly inserted can cause all sorts of issues. If it’s especially prominent in PvP then I’d imagine the extra particle effects could be causing issues due to the card not being inserted properly or potentially being faulty.

There’s absolutely no reason that a 970 should be having any sort of issue with GW2 unless there’s something wrong somewhere.

Thanks for the useful advice, it didn’t help.

For anyone having similar problems, I’ve found that decreasing the resolution from you native spec seems to practically remove crashes in general, so in the future for anyone having problems like this just decrease your native resolution.
