Crashing with hard boot pc
There are thousand of us in the same boat. GW2 team have no idea what is wrong. I have been trying to get a response from then all day. Nothing…..
Mate seriously i dont give a kitten if it is anything else but me. I just wanna be sure its not me. I cant stand searching anymore.
What other games have you played with the same rig? Did you get the right drivers? The newest beta drivers supposedly work better than the release version. I got the same crash all the time on my old MOBO/GPU combo while playing Age of Conan for years. New Mobo/cpu fixed it.
My pc is brand new except the fans bought all the parts on easter i think. Used to play SWTOR in ilum with 15-25 fps b4 the 1.2 legacy patch. Also BF3 in ultra settings at 1080p without any problems. And yes atm i m using latest beta drivers.
Downclock your graphics card by 10-20% to fix this problem.
I dont know how to downclock or overclock although i have the msiburner i dont know the right volts watts etc.But i can udnerstand from ur answer that its smth about the game client and not about my pc right?
P.S just ran Furmark (I think its called “benchmarking” program) I ve ran 2 test for 15 mins.
1) 4xMSAA 1920×1080 dynamic cam. With load 99% i had 89C temperature and 13fps.
2) Disabled MSSA 1920×1080 dynamic cam.With load 99% i ahd 85C temperature 20fps.
No crash at all.
Downclocking your graphics card is a ridiculous solution, I’m sorry.
Thousands of us are having the same issue, and most of us run other games perfectly fine with our setups. Drivers up to date, and personally I have great airflow and cooling on my cards.
It’s simply not probable that thousands of players have their graphics cards suddenly crap out when we start playing GW2.
If in fact this was happening, you could prove that GW2 has such a severe optimization issue that it was actually causing damage to customer’s hardware… in which case ANet would be in serious trouble. However, I’ve never heard of that actually happening before.
@Ravennus Yes underclocking your GPU is rediculous but it works, this game was never optimized as it is showing now. Untill Arena Net comes out with a patch and Drivers get updated this is probably your obly option. Arenanet is getting as much info as they can to optimize there game to different GPUs its just going to take some time for them to fix it.
Totally agree about the downclocking part. I m not bored of learning how to since its easy nowdays but seriously underclocking for playing a game while i can play others with better graphics without having a problem? Also i m not ALWAYS forced to hard boot my pc.Usually it will take like 2-3 times to freeze and go back to normal b4 having to hard boot it. Also the freezes that happens for 2-3 second may happen within 10 minutes or sometimes within 2 hours. Totally random :S
Yea mine was random as well when it would happen. Whether it was loading into a way point or just roaming around.
Anyway i m going to sleep now.I m rly looking forward for an official answer that does not include the auto message bulls**it.Blablabla game advisor blablabla beta driver 304.xx blabla.
Sry for double post but i had to bumb since i just got BSOD and i want some1 to tell me what files should i post. BSOD was not the one with the hieroglyphics it was the other one but didnt manage to read it since it was pixelized :S
BSODs and driver resets & hangs are all related to the drivers & hardware of the PC. I have been in exactly the same situation as you, where SWTOR runs fine, but GW2 has no end of hangs & freezes. That one game or even most games are ok is not an indicator that everything on your PC is fine.
Whilst it is feasible for a game to push drivers & hardware more than it should, no user-mode application can cause a BSOD. It’s always the driver or the hardware, without exception.
In my case, GW2 highlighted that, for once, a game was pushing the total VRAM in the card and found that one high VRAM address was corrupt. EVGA RMAed the card, and since then I’ve had no such freezing issues. I would strongly recommend you benchmark your card with something that is very intensive in DX11 (my personal favourite is Unigine Heaven, but anything that Process Explorer/EVGA Precision/whatever reports that the GPU usage is 100% for a full hour is good (as long as it tests the majority/all of the VRAM as well).
One other thing to consider is your sound hardware & drivers. There are some known issues where HD audio drivers conflict between actual sound hardware and the ones Nvidia provide, which yields pretty much the same sort of hang. Hope that helps get you started in the right direction.
I ve benchmarked my card using Furmark with msaa x4 and without(i dont use multisampling in gw2) the test were for 15mins each and it 99load for gpu witht he fans working with only 50% power and i had no crashing at all :S.
EDIT: I got confused with my old mobo atm i have a gigabyte ga-p67a
I got BSOD again and i managed to read and it says that i should check the latest hardware i installed etc. Problem is that the computer is not more than 6months old and i bought all the parts at the same time :S. Seriously what may cause system reboot w/o high temperatures? also what can i do about the sound drivers that u Grammarye mentioned?
