I’’ve seen this problem floating around but my fps yesterday was 80-100 in non dense areas and then 25-30 in Lions Arch. Today it’s 18-20 with no npc’s or players and a couple of mobs on screen…..

Is it the server or my internet perhaps?

All my settings are on max with AA enabled.

My internet is a constant 48mb fibre optic with 2mb upload.

Computer specs are:

i5 4690k (3.5ghz non OC)
Gtx 980 ti Palit Super Jetstream 6gb
NZXT Kraken x41 liquid cooling
Sandisk 256 SSD (GW2 installed on SSD)
Seagate 2 tb
H440 NZXT case

I’m getting 60fps + on Witcher 3 at moment, so is this a cpu hungry/ poorly optimised game? Maybe if I OC the CPU, that will help?

Cheers!

Are you using windows 10?

I have the same problem with Gtx 750ti. If you search around other people have the same problems too.

Some people suggested you either use older driver or switch back to windows 8 or 7. I tried older driver but didn’t fix it myself.

Yes, I bought 8.1 but immediately updated to 10.

I did see people with similar issues but most people said it was because GW doesn’t support multi cpu or something to that effect.

I would switch back to an older driver but the Witcher is running so well on this current set up that I wouldn’t want to sacrifice potential performance.

It’s amazing that at 4k I get avg of 10-15 frames more on Witcher 3 than 1080p GW2 lol.

Are you trying anything else to see if it will help? I’m running out of ideas…

Pull down GPU-Z and make sure that your card is running at PCIE x16 version 3 and not 1.1 or linked less then 8×. If so you need to reseat your 980Ti. Also make sure the GPU is in the closest slot to the CPU.

Also I know that the current Nvidia drivers that are shipping with Windows10 are buggy (same with AMD to a point). There is a thread here that explains about it and tells you which drivers to be using, then how to disable auto updates on Win10 for hardware devices.

If the GPU Is correctly Linked I would then give the Driver change a go.

Desktop: 4790k@4.6ghz-1.25v, AMD 295×2, 32GB 1866CL10 RAM, 850Evo 500GB SSD
Laptop: M6600 – 2720QM, AMD HD6970M, 32GB 1600CL9 RAM, Arc100 480GB SSD

Hey SirSquishy.

I used GPU-Z and the PCIE was as you said lower settings at 1.1 but when I ran the render test it pumped it up to x16 version 3 but shortly after the test it went back to 1.1 but still retained the x16?

I just opened and closed the program twice and it remains at 16 but changes from 1.1-3.

Any ideas on that front?

GPU is as close to CPU as poss. Will try find the thread on the additional stuff Thanks!

If you just updated to windows 10 most likely driver related, did you get all the latest win 10 driver not just the video card but the motherboard chipset drivers also

I tried using an older driver 347.88 like someone suggested. But it don’t help. I switched back to the newest driver.

It’s kind of weird that the problem happens only sometimes. The only suggestion I have is try to stay out of divinity reach. Usually my problem started there. And only way to fix it sometime is restart my computer.

In your particular case with your screenshot provided I’d presume it’s a driver issue.. That low of fps with nothing going on at that time in the game is astonishingly low.
Keep in mind that the game really sucks kitten with max settings in certain scenarios; i.e. World Events and Heavily Populated areas LA etc

Hi all,

I have downloaded all drivers for MOBO, card etc. Only thing I didn’t do was update BIOS but could flash it at some point if I need to.

I’ve had my FPS fluctuating wildly over the past couple of days. Sometimes I log in and it’s 10-15 and others it’s 80+.

What I have noticed is lately my gpu usage is at 0% and cpu is at 30 ish.

Those stats to me don’t seem to be great… I installed TERA,WOW and LOL just so see how they performed and I’m over 100fps on all of them. The gpu benchmarks higher than the Titan x so for games like Witcher it’s absolutely amazing and the above MOBA and MMO’S.

I really wanted to come back and play regularly with this set up but until some driver issues or cpu optimisation issues are corrected I don’t see how I can play anymore…

Sucks.
