This is really strange. It started early this week. I’ve been playing this game without issue for nearly 2 years. Nothing has changed on my computer or my home network.

What happens is this: I seem to disconnect from the game map – I press a power (like swiftness) and it pulses like it’s going to activate, but never does activate. While this is happening, I have no lost packets to Teamspeak, and I can continue to party and guild chat in game, while the skill is pulsing. Which means this isn’t a complete DC from GW2, but something isolated to my character playing on the map. Eventually, I get kicked from the game saying the client has lost connection to the server.

This has happened in all maps, but most frequently on WvW maps. Any ideas on what could be causing this?

Try running a ping path or trace rout looks like you may be lagging just a bit on one of the nodes that you go threw to get to the game server. The reason TS in not effected is it most likely is taking a different rout to get to the TS server.

Opinions are like ______ everyone has one I could
put the correct term in but not everyone has kittens

This started recently for me as well. It doesn’t start until around 9:45-10:30PM CST. Did a tracert and everything is fine until 64.25.32.82 (playing on 64.25.38.247 right now while it’s happening) at which point every request times out.

Edit: Just guested to Blackgate (64.25.33.73) and it drops requests at the same IP. However, the lag issues much more minimal for the time being…RIP Crystal Desert

Edit #2: Started getting the 42:0:9001:4375:101 error again.

TS servers and GW2 servers are going to be located in different parts of the world, and use different Routing paths to be reached. So when one crashes and the other doesn’kittens completely unrelated and not at the end point for the issue.

You need to be more proactive in your own troubleshooting before you all start pointing fingers. Start your Traceroutes, do a couple to different end servers (Google DNS – 8.8.8.8, Level3 DNS – 4.2.2.2, Yahoo.com – 98.138.253.109, gw2.com – 64.25.40.16) and you’ll start to see how the packets are leaving your PC and going out your ISP to get the end point.

You will also see what nodes are actually causing you issues for what service.

Then you can feel free to take that data to your Level2/Level3 support at your ISP so they can figure out what needs to be done to fix the issue (Transport issue tickets can ONLY be opened by YOUR ISP that is affected by the issue. Its called a Head to Head service Ticket).

unless the issue is the ISP that Anet hosts on, they cannot even open a ticket for an issue that is affecting you. That responsibility falls entirely on you. Or, you can wait the issue out for self resolution when the transport gets around to fixing it on their own.

I get this issue a lot as well, have had it for many months by now. Gameplay freezing, including the pulsing but never activating skills.

This can go on for minutes before I get kicked from the game. While this is going on, I can still chat in all channels. I can even leave and join parties, and fully interact with the tradepost and guild functions. My location in the guild roster will show ‘Unknown’ during all this.

Considering all the game functionality that still does work, I have a hard time believing that the issue exists anywhere else than very, very close to the ANet servers.

So for history’s sake, the problem was my router… It was dying, and caused intermittent breaks in connectivity which teamspeak and web sites could handle, but GW2 could not.
