Hi,

I am trying to find a way of disabling one GPU on my Radeon 5970 (an older card) as I’ve been reading the interwebs and it appears it may help with my FPS. This – apparently – disables Crossfire on a single PCB.

Try as I might, I cannot see a way of doing this although it’s apparently doable by disabling Catalyst A.I. And then it gets confusing as I can’t find any option to change any settings in my CCC. I’m running Catalyst version 13.4 which is the latest I think.

Anyone with the power of Google-foo (foo because I kittened with the correct term) up to black belt standard – help would be most appreciated as I just can’t find the definitive answer…

Thanks!

you can’t disable crossfire on a dual GPU graphics card. You can indirectly turn it off by playing the game in windowed mode.

Thanks for that.

I tried switching back to full screen mode to enable both GPU’s but that hasn’t resulted in any performance increase.

Back to the drawing board for me.

I absolutely love dual GPU cards but when it comes to being able to disable one GPU, I guess that’s where two cards succeeds.
