Guild Wars 2

Hi everyone. Just a little advise if thats ok.

Im kinda new to PC gaming and i’ve been told i need to upgrade my GPU as its not very powerfull. Now i have only had this GPU a few months and hav’nt really got the money to upgrade yet. I can play games like Crysis 1,2 and 3 ect fine. But like i said that all my GPU will have and that it would be best to get a new one as soon as poss. Even this game runs great to me. Seems smooth ect. Do i really need a new GPU already?

Intel i5 2500k
Nvidia 670 GTX
8Gig DDR3
Games played at 1080p

Now i know for this game its more important to have a fast CPU but all the games i’ve played seem to run real nice so im at a loss of what to do. Thanks for any help anyone could give.

Your rig is fine, dunno why som1 would say u need a new GPU, u dont . The 670 is more than capable. And the 2500k is a great OC’er. if u need more CPU performance and u havnt OC’d, get a good aftermarket cooler and OC the CPU 4.5ghz, that will improve ur performance in CPU intensive situations like GW2 WvW.

I bought a new card a month or so ago, and I got the 650Ti, which is an inferior card to yours. I WAS playing just fine until this lag issue but that’s not GPU related.

So whoever told you you need a new GPU doesnt know what they are talking about.

From what I hear we onyl need a fast CPU because Anet used DX9, instead of 11, or even 10! I’ve read people say that DX9 is more CPU heavy and doesnt utilise modern GPUs as much.

Maybe if you can be more specific about your problem we could help.

Apart from hacks and exploits there are only 2 main issues with WvW:

1) The new lag issue which some of us are having, Anet are blaming ISPs for it, but my ISP says my connection is fine, also all other games I play are fine.

2) Skill lag, when a zerg meets and enemy zerg you cannot cast your skills. Only thing that can be done about this is if Anet get better servers and increase outgoing bandwidth.

Both are out of players’ control and not down to a problem with your PC.
