Do your F1-F4 buttons work?
2 ways most likely.
1. While in game, hold down the function key [Fn] while pressing f1, f2, etc. it is typically located on the lower left side of the keyboard next to [control].
2. This method is system wide and will require you to have to use the above method any time you want to adjust the volume or screen brightness or to pause/play music etc using the f1-f12 keys. Go to system preferences>keyboard>keyboard (tab) and tick the option to “Use all F1, F2, etc keys as standard function keys.” This will allow you to just use f1-f12 like normal keys in game, but now you have to hold [Fn] to adjust the volume and screen brightness all the time. You may switch between the 2 modes any time.
Hope this helps you.
I am playing on a desktop with a for mac razer keyboard. There is no Fn button
<.< well that’s not going to do you any good. Still check your keyboard settings in the location above, it’s possible there is a setting for something. It’s also possible a keyboard like that has an app with settings of it’s own, if I’m not mistaken, may want to check those and if you don’t have that, see if they exist and install it. (reasoning: most mouse and keyboard stuff comes with its own app for programming keys and input settings)
ok so now im just playing with a regular mac keyboard but it is forcing me to press fn + the f# buttons.
Is there a way for me to not have to do this?
I had the same problem and I’ve found the easiest solution is to simply re-assign the fn keys elsewhere in the game itself. For example my f1-f3 keys are now Shift, Z, and X respectively.
Ero, if you’re using a regular Mac keyboard, follow the instructions I gave you initially. But you still should’ve had options for the other somewhere… Even my cheap mouse came with software to manipulate how my buttons work.
This might be too late, but go to (apple)>System Preferences>Keyboard and check the box that says “Use all F1, F2 etc keys as standard function keys”.
I recommended that first too

Try this app. It sits in the menu bar up top and you can set it to auto toggle your function keys when you load GW2 and set them back to apple functions when you quit.
