Q:

I usually play on 1400×900 but since the last patch, my game is pretty much unplayable since I went from 20 fps to 8. I want to know if anyone know whether changing the resolution to a small res makes a difference? I know in other computer games, it has for me, but when I change it in this game, it makes no affect. Can anyone else confirm whether it does or doesn’t?

This game is broke. It has no linear fps curve. It doesn’t matter how much you try to make the game look as kitteny as possible, your fps will remain constant or change very little. It’s the games fault.

20 fps is absolutely terrible. From the look of that, your computer could almost, barely handle the game before the patch, and now whatever they made less efficient has pushed it over the edge. In this case, I really doubt you could make it small enough to improve your fps, as it was already so low at a smallish resolution anyway.

I’d leave the resolution alone for the most part, and try just turning every graphics option to its lowest possible setting. Also update your graphics drivers (assuming you can. I’m guessing you use an integrated video card and I have no idea with what frequency those are updated).

Yeah, I’ve done everything in the book. Changed my control panel settings to high performance, set everything to low, downloaded the latest driver, etc. My Nvidia Geforce 9400m is the issue. Everything else about my computer is easily capable of playing this game. I hate integrated GPUs…

I play with 20-30 fps, mainly 25, and Reso makes a small change. I can’t play fullscreen coz it’s like 10-15 fps lol. I’m playing on a Laptop with a Processor and GFX card that shouldn’t even be playing. You should see how small my window is to play this game.
Have you tried running Gamebooster?

What really sucks is according to ANet, my laptop should be able to play GW2 no issue. I meet the recommended settings! If I knew my game was going to run this kitteny, I wouldn’t have bought it.

I just downloaded gamebooster and have it a try but it made no difference. Will 10 fps…

shocked some of the fanboi’s havent come in to insult you guys.

the game is poorly optimized, it needs some work, I blame alot of it on umbra issues(the occlusion culling they used, funny enough, to give better perf….)

It seems to me they are trying but, arent testing internally on systems they are trying to optimize for…..

SO much this. Game is nigh unplayable on an nvidia card, doesn’t even matter if it’s high or low end. I get under 10 FPS in large events and WvW, it’s quite sad really. I expected this crap to be fixed after at least a month, what have we gotten? Absolutely ZERO improvements in performance. Just HORRIBLE.

I haven’t even played for more than an hour in over 2 weeks now because not being able to play every aspect of the game sucks because of ANets incompetence with their own engine. I mean really, from GW1 which could play on ultra with zero issues on a computer that could hardly handle D2 to this… woah.

Just another reason why WoW, or any other MMO is better than GW2 right now. Unfortunately I probably won’t even log in for the halloween event.

IF your card has an M in it then you should probably invest in a pc that is not a laptop or one that has a high-end card in it that is not on the motherboard. the game is optimized, its your system that is the issue.

patch gave me stuttering in snowy areas post-patch. Nvidia released new drivers this past week. Install the drivers, they fixed the issue for me.

duno, my buddy with his 5870m is playing just fine at 1920×1080......the chips in effect a low power/binned 5770….

the fact is, they advert this game with recommend specs that should be minimum, and recommended should be a low to mid high end gaming rig…..

Rukia: chill please, they have been trying to fix event bugs and bugs with umbra and and and…..they just dont got enough people to get the kind of fixes you want(everything fixed in a month) even blizzard dont have that, MoP is still buggy….my buddy has been putting in bug reports a couple times a day as he plays and finds issues….(he got it free from a friend who wanted him to play WoW because the guy refuses to even try anything else)

the game needs optimized, it needs debuged…..anet need time to do this, they probably need more staff working on it as well but….. but thats something they would need to take up with ncsoft since it would cost money to hire more people and ncsoft own anet…..

i get why your upset, and fully understand if you wana take a few months off and play something else…..just got get all angery over something that any mmo vet has come to expect of a new mmo launch…(bugs gallor!!!!)

yeah 2 generations old tho as well.

also note I can confirm that res and gfx settings on a decent system have little to no effect.
for me even reflections and shadows do little to perf(both disabled nets me around 5-7fps)

2560×1440
vs
1280×720
same fps……(not even a gain of 1 fps……)

pretty much confirms it dosnt matter what you run, this game dosnt scale for kitten

If you are changing to lower resolutions ant don’t see an increase in fps that usually means CPU bottleneck….
