Guild Wars 2

Hi, i just recently bought the game on my laptop, but haven’t installed it because I’m afraid of some “only download once” message. I have a laptop and a sub-par desktop right now while i wait for my New Gaming Rig to arrive in the mail, but i really wanna play GW2. Is it possible to download a client onto my laptop, then later download it on my new PC to play on?

Go ahead and download away (actually you can do it once and simply copy it over to your other machines, it’s quicker that way). But the thing is you can only be running it on one machine at a time. No dual boxing. You are buying an account, not a per machine product.

Dont download it twice, its a waste of time. After the Game is downloaded, Copy it to a USB HDD, or USB 32g Flash Drive. Then you can easily move the game files from one system to another.

Then at that point, you run gw2.exe from the folder, it downloads and installs the Launcher data into appdata, and you dont need to download 16GB of data again.

You mainly want the Gw2.dat file. For a clean install on multiple computers, you’d want to run GW2’s installer (can be found on your account page) let the launcher run for a very short period of time, close it, then transfer over the completed Gw2.dat file.

Installing GW2 first ensures the proper registry entries and folder(s) are available (but probably isn’t mandatory).

I’ve copied the entire game folder onto a new computer and all I needed to do was then run Gw2.exe (under admin probably). Then I made a shortcut to gw2.exe and that was it.
