Guild Wars 2

This is annoying.. I have the game saved to my desktop and not in the Games files like I am supposed to and I shut off my Avast Anti-Virus when downloading.. The problem is that the computer keeps freezing during the download after awhile. I get 3 hours into the download for this patch, it freezes, i reboot computer and then go through the data archive repair and have to start all over..

What do i do?

figure out why its freezing would be a start.

The only time the computer freezes is when the downloader goes up after it download runs a bit

I have burn tested the memory for 8 hours – tested good

Turned off windows firewall and all services and programs that are not windows

All drivers are up to date, BIOS is up to date

All software is up to date cept GW2 of course

GW2 is in its own folder not in Program Files

I have uninstalled and tried to re-install but same downloader problems

I have ran the repair

Core temperatures are never over 35 degrees

Vid card temps never over 55 degrees

I am having the exact same issues. have everything but the downloader turned off and it continues to lock up my computer. Installed over 50 games on this comp and never had this issue once. I am about ready to get a refund on the game.

so, basically just copied and read a bunch of random crap that wouldn’t really display errors in the first place.

run OCCT, Prime95 and FAH at the same time, then get back to me.

system freezes generally occur when memory is executed, which none of the tests actually do…..

when I said I burned the memory – I ran Prime95, Memtest86, Memtest86+, and Windows Memory Diagnostice for 8 hours

so you see, once again.. you are just trolling and not offering anything helpful nor understanding anything

I fixed the problem by the way, and it was a fix that you trolled of another person’s.. using Google’s DNS for download

So you basically wasted time with applications that one trip up a vdroop execution instability.?

DNS to fix a freezing computer? amusing resolution. better not try running a youtube video, lest you freeze the computer again.

The freeze would happen on the downloader only. It does not make much sense on how DNS to fix freezing computer, but it did. I would suspect there is some other problem on how it is handling a DNS problem that lead to a freeze.

That being said, downloader and installation process of this game has been well documented as being screwy. The DNS was an attempt at something since nothing was working which you seem to agree does not make sense. It would seem then that you would do the same thing on testing and “wasted time with applications” rather than working with DNS

That being said, you kept trolling while others offered resolutions that might not make sense lead to resolution.

Still not working for me, tried DNS change and that didng work. Changed DNS, uninstalled antivirus, ran as admin and made sure nothing else was running and got it to download up to 1.5-2 GB before freezing, but still does. Giving tech support a chance to fix it but if not I am getting a refund and learning my lesson for touching an arena.net game
